I think his words has a purpose. Can't belive Lych just put that in final moment for fun. If he only remembering something, he doesn't need to tell anything. Only his face was sufficient. Why he say anything ? Let's back to ep14 "we are like a dreamer, who dreams, then live inside a dream". Another fun ? Sentences for nothing ? It's not now about if someone is sleeping and have a dream or someone is sitting and dreams. That is free to interpretation, someone can belive he is sitting and dreaming other he sleeping. It doesn't matter now. In both cases what we see is his dreams, according to Lych/Cole sentence. He created this film and he tell this to us himself as Gordon Cole. How these all irrational things can be reality ? We have a lot of it, even there this guy with green glove hehe, it's like a fantasy. Another one is endless bleeding guy in jail, no medical help ? Or this scene with guy who kills Chantal and Hutch. Dumb Dougie, nooone doing anything about it. His boss is ok with that, wife too, son too, or Candie hahaha etc.etc...how can be this reality, he say clearly "we live inside a dream".

i took it as Richard dreaming/remembering what happened to this different iteration of Cooper. It doesn't mean the version we saw was just  dream, if you buy into the parallel dimension idea...

Hi Jason,

I think so, too.

Cooper was there in the Sheriff's office.  Richard was the superimposition.  =:-O

Yeah i'm leaning to that too, the sure thing is that the real Dale Cooper was in the Sheriff's office..
