I have no idea what kind of wrap up that was. Part 17 was great 18 has me ramming my head into a wall. Are they trying to say he went back and saved laura from dying so it changed everything including who he was? Was it all in his head and he was nuts? Im so confused and disappointed.
I am still trying to digest it all. With Lynch I did not expect to have it all tied up in a neat package with a nice bow.... he is the master of abstract. But it was totally not what I expected so I think I have to watch again! Gordon Cole did warn us at the beginning of part 17 it was probably not playing out like we thought!! I think either Coop is stuck in some repeating loop type of world or there is no "real Coop"..... or like you said when he interfered with cycle of what was and changed the future it changed the past? I understand being disappointed..... I was too....but I was actually expecting no less from Mr. Lynch - he likes to plant the seeds but wants the audience to make their own conclusions....
I agree that Cooper is in a loop and maybe there is no "real" Coop. This sounds right. After he goes through the door in the Sheriff's office basement, he's sort of being used for spare parts, I think. Maybe he's now officially a "lodge entity" like Phillip Jeffries or Major Briggs--but he doesn't quite know it yet. He still thinks he's Agent Cooper, but he no longer acts like him, he's more somber and almost a bit like Bad Coop (but without the malevolence). Maybe Bad Coop is an evolution of his soul all along, from another time, who came into Agent Cooper's timeline by mistake. We are seeing his soul change in the car ride with Diane.
WTH--maybe everyone is either a lodge entity or a tulpa? (And the tulpas are created by the lodge entities)
Yes, after he left TP, he assumed nuances of Mr. C's vocal tone, determined quietude. Ugh. I am a glutton for punishment with this show.
Yeah. Really disappointed. Really. Disappointed. Really. So MANY unresolved issues. Okay, so we hope there will be a Season 4 or Movie or something to tie up loose ends, but I just wonder about all of the moments in these last two hours where so many things could have been addressed:
- Diane & Cooper making love, while Diane is covering Cooper's face
- Cooper & Laura driving
That seriously accounts for about 40 minutes right there!
Extremely disappointed and already incurring the wrath of the Lynch sycophants on Twitter telling me I "just don't understand Lynch and what Twin Peaks "is""
There are a lotta d-bags on Reddit wth closed minds who fail to pose necessary questions. Don't let them rattle you. I've even incurred harassing emails from them.
***edited - meant Reddit.
Fuck you, Twin Peaks....FUUUUUCK YOOOOOU!!!!
Because I've been a staunch fan for the last 26 years, I made my husband go back and watch all of the first two seasons, FWWM, and now this. His final words, this evening, "I'm pissed. You owe me a lot of blow jobs."
Me: "You should have been there in '91."
Balls. Not surprised, but...balls.
Lmao. Easily my favorite reaction to the finale.

Good catch on the voice.... I saw it in his eyes for sure ... but on rewatching see what you mean by the voice. Diane had to cover his face while making love as I think she saw it too. And the real kicker ... Naido was Diane and Diane is Linda??
Naido, Diane, Linda..... all the same letters D I A N.
Leaves O L E
????
I can see why everybody's furious, I really do. My little brother stormed off to bed in a less than satisfied manner.
I however...initially was disappointed, but now I'm starting to get it and it's starting to click.
Basically, Lynch broke a cardinal rule of Television. Unlike films, we spend so much time with these characters that we grow to truly love them, to know them, as if they were friends.
Lynch just retconned the Coop we know out of existence. He no longer exists as we know him...he also did the same to Peaks...
And we can't take it. We can't take that it's all undone.
It's not Lynch...it's us. It's us who can't swallow it.
I think over time we'll begin to recognise it for what it is, but right now we're understandably disillusioned.

Screw TP...how do I get in on this whole BJ thing??

I will admit after a couple hours of sleep I awoke ready to rethink what I saw last night thinking maybe I would get more clarity. I don't think clarity is supposed to happen lol..... but I am beginning to see some things more clearly or am I?? Lol. Was there ever a good Coop and a bad Coop or was all that about Richard and his struggle to become the man and the cop he dreamed to be? And was Richard and Linda trying to do what Ruth and William where doing.... playing a dangerous game with alternate dimensions?
Hi Cyndee,
I think that was the room that Security Guard James was investigating in the hotel. Who knew the Great Northern's electrical room was the way "between two worlds"?
Not that it matters now. 😉

LoL!
You just referred to people who enjoyed the series as 'Lynch sycophants'. Do you want to just stop now. Discuss what you saw and save the butt-hurt for Reddit.
What I saw and would have liked to see longer is when Coop bid farewell to Diane and Gordon in the furnace room in part 17. I would have liked to see Coop trying to open the door for at least 30 to 35 minutes of screen time, just like it happened to me trying to open my neighbor’s apartment door after an extended night drinking red wine.
It goes without saying that I am very disappointed about the entire third season of Twin Peaks and David’s work because that scene in particular did not last long enough for us to enjoy.
So sad.
Wondering now if Laura whispers "my mother is Judy"
My thoughts exactly. Her scream at the series end confirms it.

Could be ... would explain the look on anguished despair on his face.

How did Cooper end up there? I guess it's not that important but it makes sense since that space was so "special." Oh wait, that was probably the next day and they were leaving the hotel?

Hi Cyndee,
It wasn't clear how Cooper, Diane and Cole got there, or how long it took them.
But you could tell it was the same room James investigated. The same tone that Ben and Beverly heard in the Great Northern was even clearer there. Cooper's old-fashioned 315 room key unlocked the door.
Of course, simply comparing the two scenes will do, too! 😉
