Yeah.  Really disappointed.  Really.  Disappointed.  Really.  So MANY unresolved issues.  Okay, so we hope there will be a Season 4 or Movie or something to tie up loose ends, but I just wonder about all of the moments in these last two hours where so many things could have been addressed:

  • Diane & Cooper making love, while Diane is covering Cooper's face
  • Cooper & Laura driving

That seriously accounts for about 40 minutes right there!

I have no idea what kind of wrap up that was. Part 17 was great 18 has me ramming my head into a wall. Are they trying to say he went back and saved laura from dying so it changed everything including who he was? Was it all in his head and he was nuts? Im so confused and disappointed.

I am still trying to digest it all.  With Lynch I did not expect to have it all tied up in a neat package with a nice bow.... he is the master of abstract.  But it was totally not what I expected so I think I have to watch again!  Gordon Cole did warn us at the beginning of part 17 it was probably not playing out like we thought!!  I think either Coop is stuck in some repeating loop type of world or there is no "real Coop"..... or like you said when he interfered with cycle of what was and changed the future it changed the past?  I understand being disappointed..... I was too....but I was actually expecting no less from Mr. Lynch - he likes to plant the seeds but wants the audience to make their own conclusions....

Extremely disappointed and already incurring the wrath of the Lynch sycophants on Twitter telling me I "just don't understand Lynch and what Twin Peaks "is""

Finale was 100% mailed in, an absurd amount of filler in that episode. A shame bc episode 17 was a speeding fright train of material.

That quote at the end is typical on Facebook and twitter.

Here, it's died down with that response. Read some threads and hopefully some will share some insight to make that finale easier to swallow.

Well, one of the characteristics of surrealistic film and art is that it is SUPPOSE to confuse the viewer.  And Lynch is one of the top surrealists of all time.  In this regard, I loved what he did here.  There are no loose ends to tie up... these details to a surrealist like Lynch are meaningless.

I will agree I was pumped after 17 and 18 slammed on the brakes back to a snails pace.... I do think that Lynch is the master of the abstract and there are never neat endings and In 17 Gordon warned us.... when he told Albert it's probably not going to turn out the way I thought....

Oh yeah I agree 100% - but for some reason, right after the finale ended here on the east coast, this site would not load for me so, stupidly, I turned to Twitter LOL

Mailed in with insufficient postage 🙂

I think there's interesting stuff going on at the end but it's not what I would have liked to see. I think he gave us the resolutions in episodes 14-17 and did whatever the F he wanted in 18--which was pretty similar to the kind of thing he did in FWWM and Mulholland Drive, right? Even FWWM had a more "upbeat" ending (OMG how is this possible).

This ending is part stock horror and some armchair existentialism/mysticism. I have a vague idea floating in my mind about identity dissolution and the role of the Giant "white lodge" in distributing said identities, and it seems to have something to do with those "bells" that look like they are forming The Matrix (from the movie--some kind of weirdo incubator system?) Apparently Agent Cooper gets to keep his identity but it's no longer who he is? And the final scene he manages to wake the dead "Laura" out of the living "Carrie" and it's so traumatic that it affects everything and maybe creates "Judy" anew.

Babbling a bit I know.

Ugh I have a hard time calling 35-40 minutes of absolutely nothing "materful". There was far too much filler for a finale.

Episode 18 was all about letting go of Agent Cooper.

That's a messy story because the attachment is so strong with the audience--it's messy and it comes in pieces, unlike the warm and sad end of the Log Lady.

What's far worse is what he did to Audrey--gave her line to the Evolution of the Arm. That deserves its own thread though.
