Mike helped Laura, and Mike helped Cooper ( original series ). His goal in being out in our world was to stop Bob.
Cooper knows what the ring is for, likely he'll put it on the doppelganger to send it & Bob back into the BL.
@Karen: Before Season 3 started, I re-watched EVERYTHING Lynch, read Laura's Diary, read TSHOTP, and most importantly joined 'welcometotwinpeaks.com' ... it truly amazes me that YOU can keep so many little (and big, too) facts straight about the Twin Peaks universe. Crazymad R-E-S-P-E-C-T !!!
So, while on the topic of the ring... I don't doubt someone has a list that tracks the ring's long journey... I thought it'd be interesting to work backwards, noting especially how many times Mike has had possession.
I'm from the camp that wouldn't mind a few more 'flashbacks' tucked into the last parts ; a few of my 'selfish wants' would be references to the 'Lewis & Clark' expedition in the northwest territory AND Douglas Milford.
