Hey, guys !

I reviewed [ again, fro the x time the third series ] and it became very clear to me that  director Gordon Cole from the Federal Bureau of Investigations [ as Denise like to say 🙂 ] is not deaf at all.

I think he is wearing his audio device [ which among other thing, I noticed, he can detect microphones ] for such a long time, that now he is used to shout a lot.

When your ear is obstructed by a device [ I know, I use one , I have some  hearing problems ], you have the tendency to speak a little louder and you didn't noticed that much as the other people did.

I wonder, if my theory is right, what other features have the hearing device that Gordon Cole use ? Gordon Cole, director at the Federal Bureau of Investigations 🙂

Yeah, I think he's using the device to listen to the Lodges or listen in on other dimesnsions or however you want to put it. The device is for extra-sensorial use, not to aid the function of his inner or middle ear, IMO.

"Albert, that sound you just made with your feet on the concrete, It's like a knife in my brain!"

Original TP: "Today you remind me of a small Mexican chi-wow wow."

What about him and his famous 'HEARING’S GONE, LONG STORY, GOT THESE THINGS CRANKED UP TO THE MAX!'?

There was also an article about the aids he was using in TP&FWWM and they are supposedly for stage 1&2 deafness which means he was only partially deaf which means that potentially he was using the devices to listen to other frequencies which makes sense with him being on the Blue Rose team.

Maybe an incident that happened early in his life and required for him to use the aids was one of the first interactions he had with blue rose phenomena.

If he could hear well, he'd know it isn't "chi-wow wow."

Wouldn't be the first American - or Brit, before you get annoyed - who can't pronounce words properly.

FWIW, I think he's deaf but I'm halfway to believing the hearing aid is not what it seems.

I think he's hard of hearing, but not completely deaf.  And there is definitely something more happening with his hearing device.

I have a student who needs special hearing technology, and I saw his audiology profile.  Some sounds are within his range, and some are not.  I never thought about it that way.  Every profile is unique, sp Cole might hear some sounds better than others.  This boy has an amplifier device that I  wear so that he hears me more than background noise.  Must remember to turn off unit when muttering to self...

In season 2, he seemed genuinely surprised that he was able to hear Shelley.

But I think he plays up to it. I think he can hear people. He's got a hearing aid, which helps him hear. That's what it's there for. That's why he was able to hear Albert that time when Albert said "You heard".

I noticed this too. The hearing aid gives him a superpower, useful when one has to deal with forces such as the Lodges, doppelgängers and tulpas.

I got it figured out.  He's Johnnie Ray's tulpa.
