IT IS A BLUE ROSE!

I thought it looked like an upside down flower, carved from wood.

It made me think of ceremonial gords from several different cultures. Obviously, no gord looks like that, but that's what it made me think of.

He was also holding it sort of like a book.

I figured it was like the towel origami that they leave in your room on a cruise ship.

thinking back to Hawk explaining his map to Frank... fire, fire symbols; if you put this with that you get ?black fire?... Frank asks, "Good?" Hawk replies, "It depends on the intention behind the fire" <paraphrasing... so the Fireman, raises his hand and delivers his 'good intentions' into Andy's lap... what we see is a fire symbol?

The smoke was most likely added in post -- it doesn't seem to be influenced by its 'surroundings' and it seems like it's coming from the 'box' only after most of it has gone up, as if they edited the scene to make it look like the smoke came from the box. I don't think it's a point of interest, but I was just trying to determine if the smoke was coming from the box or from Andy's body. Given that the smoke comes back into the box at the end, I suppose it's our best guess.

The thing is obviously an enabler, perhaps an emotional video-projector of sorts.

Although that fire thing is interesting-- there isn't smoke without fire. There isn't a fireman without fire. Here, there isn't smoke without the fireman delivering the box into his hands.

I can't find  a good image, but I think the man in the picture with Mr. C by the glass box his holding a similar object in his right hand.

I thought the smoke dispersal was played backwards - reverse entropy & all that.

As for the 'thing' - it looked a bit like a more professional version of the things my son tends to make in woodwork & then present me with - and I've to guess...

I like the idea of it being a (blue) rose, that Andy is holding upside-down.

The image I found gets blurry when I zoom it. Does anyone has a better one?

He holds something in his palm, but I think it's his middle finger on it :

A very sharp middle finger, wouldn't you say?

Thanks.

After having a quick look, it really doesn't look like the same thing. I'm attaching a quick edit I made with the pic doubled in size, and a close-up from another shot integrated into it at 1x size. There are some artefacts due to the camera position not being the same, but it works either way. It's not from a 1080p unlike yours I think, so it's not going to be much more helpful. But to me, there's nothing below the hand of that man. (?) Possibly, his hand is opened and empty (unlikely), and just hit by the shadow of the metal bar on his left. Maybe it's just a very small object in his palm, circular in shape.

I agree his middle finger is weird. Probably a camera lens problem to me. It looks like his finger is very close to the glass. Maybe he's touching it and there's a reflection effect. I don't know.
