If we had a Private Message facility, we could exchange email addresses without posting them out for everyone. I don't give much of a damn who gets mine but I'm certain there are folks here who wouldn't be comfortable sharing their email address in public.
That was an old email address I had that took Yahoo a month to ban??
With a name like mine, it could only be:
British users don't get a .com address from Yahoo nowadays; mine is a yrev, very old one.
My old Yahoo account was a co.uk but if I remember you had the choice back then between them. Was easily 20 years ago so could be wrong.

I hate to say it, but this will never happen.
As you can deduce from my avatar, I was a huge LOST fan. We had a very in-depth, very smart newsgroup entirely dedicated to the show, and we all thought it might even continue after the show was over. Didn't happen.
It didn't take long for it to become a sad, pathetic ghost of its former self, albeit with a few earnest, bitter-clingers who tried to make it last.
My advice to all of us: enjoy this group while it is still together. It won't last much longer. 🙁

We're old timers, that's for sure.
I remember back when Yahoo was new, before Google even existed. Back when I had to book the college's one and only "internet computer" for just an hour at a time and hear it make that dial-up connecting sound. I would then have another internet computer booked for 15 minutes later at the public library across the other end of town, and had to run there to get there in time.
A whole 2 hours of internet in one day! I didn't even have an email address then. I just used to do live chat and search for random stuff. Happy days...

No disrespect intended - I loved Lost at first but was really annoyed by the amount of filler episodes and proper hacked off with the "Oh no I can't believe they did that" cop out ending - but Twin Peaks is far and away better than Lost could ever hope to be.
There's enough material in Peaks to keep the wheels turning for some time yet, but I do accept the place has a finite lifespan without further input from Lynch and Frost to drive it along. In any event, there's no reason why people shouldn't keep in touch via email if the forum becomes a ghost town. Or Skype, even. Maybe with a console like the Sheriff uses.?

It's not about the TV show, whether it's LOST, Twin Peaks, or Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. (It's not even about the bunnies. ;-)) It's more about the nature of electronic gathering places like this one where people gather to opine on a particular, current piece of pop culture, especially TV shows.
The point is there isn't enough material - even in Twin Peaks - to keep the wheels turning. What haven't we discussed about the Return, the original series, Fire Walk with Me, even Lynch's whole movie oeuvre in this forum?
Without new material, what would we discuss in near infinite detail next? Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier? Don't think so. Besides, Karen would be all over us like white on rice: "That's not canon! That's not canon!"

Anyway, I'm glad to see that you acknowledge this place has a "finite lifespan." Let's see, we have five more weeks of the Return? By Christmas, this fun, funny, friendly, familiar forum will be a forlorn, mostly abandoned wasteland. And we all know it. It will go the way of all things - this too shall pass.
So, like I said before, let us all just savor it and enjoy it while we can! 😉

I have to agree that, as much as I love Lost, Twin Peaks is the more substantial show. It is possible to maintain communication on these sites, but it's true that the center has to continue to hold its power. I was part of a very smart and clever forum for many years, but we were united by an illness, not a show. That site was eventually taken down, as sick and dying people became too angry and the possibility of lawsuits hung over the administrators. But it was wonderful while it lasted, just like this one.
Hasn't this site been here a while and predates the Return?. What kind of activity filled the pages before now? We don't have to have 2000 messages a week to keep this place alive.
