I just hope for Big Ed's safety it doesn't have anything to do with the gas station we saw in episode 8.
my exact thought during this scene
Mine, too! It really creeped me out. I'm worried for Ed.
Sarah Palmer's reflection is off too:

Do you ever wonder if Lynch and/or Frost or their people peek on websites like this to see what their audience is saying/postulating about their show and are impressed at how observant we are, or to see where our minds are going?

I just bet they are laughing their bollocks off at us all trying to make sense of it. I imagine things like, "Let's get James singing at the Roadhouse, that's gonna get up a few noses" and, "Hey, why don't we fart about with the reflections here and there, see what the smartarses think up for that" and so on.

You're probably right Sam! I'm sure there's more than a few red herrings thrown in, and they're checking to see if we're following dead end leads. But I'll also bet that some of the people in this forum with some of the strangest theories and predictions have been right here and there! We never know when we're right, but they do of course.
I still think there's code in the airplane windows and the Lynch/Frost logos. That CAN'T be a red herring. To quote Paul Thomas Anderson:
"This is not just something that happened, this cannot be one of those things, this please, cannot be that."
When I first watched that, I thought he was just replaying the diner scene in his mind, hence the strained looks on his face. But after seeing the glitch, it seems much more likely he was testing it out. Maybe he'll convince himself he's not crazy and mention it to some of the other bookhouse boys, maybe especially Hawk.
I had to go home and watch this on a full screen to finally see what the fuss was about. Still took me a few watches before finally seeing him "glitch out" in the reflection.
Weird thing about that scene. While we can presume tempers have subsided in the intervening two-and-a-half decades, didn't Big Ed get laid out by Bobby and friends at the Roadhouse in the original series? And now they are sharing meals together at the RR.

I'm still confused by who the two women up on stage with James were? And where was his gloved friend from episode 1 or 2? I figured that guy had to either be James' lover or another aspiring musician.
I can barely see it. But here's my two cents. This reflection glitch, the peephole on Coles's door, the plane windows and the Frost Lynch logo have not actual meaning. These things are just there to make us feel like something is wrong. Lynch has been using tones and noise to evoke mood for years and this is just him doing it visually. There's no code. There's just a manipulation going on.

I thought their makeup and vacant behaviour (their eye contact is all over the place) was meant to indicate death (of Maddy / Donna). I thought that was very obvious, surprised no-one else is mentioning this.
That's an amazing spot. Took me several viewings to see it.
I also noticed that the plastic knife and fork along with the paper under the cup by his right hand are positioned differently as the scene progresses, and the yellowish notepad has gone. Then at the end as the credits roll they are back as originally set.
Could just be continuity errors but with TP who knows?
The convenience store gas station from episode 8 looks nothing like Big Ed's Gas Farm. I'm sure the two are unrelated.
The airplane windows are demonstrably INTENTIONAL- this does not necessarily mean they are MEANINGful...
This!
Lynch and Frost could be messing with us with things like this, putting in hidden things that we think are clues but which turn out to not mean anything.
On the other hand, the story we think we're watching might not actually be the real story. The obvious storylines we're seeing could just be the vehicle for something else.

Hi dawg,
They are substitutes for Donna and Maddy. 😉
(with apologies to Pete Townshend)
Those crocodile tears are what you cry
It's a genuine problem, you won't try
To work it out at all you just pass it by, pass it by
Substitute my coke for gin
Substitute you for my mum
At least I'll get my washing done
I also thought it was interesting that the sign "Frame Straightening" was in pretty prominent in the shot. And what did he burn?
