not one but 2 black Saturns on the mural behind Ben in his office. they seem out of place on that mural. a definite statement. there have certainly been a few odd occurances at the Great Northern. any thoughts on this one?
~ I'd never noticed them before so apologies if it's been discussed previously.

I'd never noticed that before... Good catch. If I had noticed it I'd probably have launched into wild theories about the Black Lodge. But this is interesting.
Also, a globe of earth is set between the Saturns.

Right? However I'm a little mistified as good ol' Ben seems to have genuinely turned towards the light.
Perhaps the Great Northern is one of the portals/gateways, regardless of the moral integrity of those who frequent the venue? Either way, those saturns are there for a reason!
I reckon the wood is from Glastonbury Grove, which might explain the noise (perhaps the noise is occurring from the events surrounding Cooper and his doppelganger (two Saturns meeting?)). That's my take on the two Saturns at least. Or it could be completely nothing.
Edit: To explain, I'm reckoning that the wood in Ben's office is new (it looks different from the original series) and from Glastonbury Grove. Just to clarify.

His office is certainly not as it was in seasons 1+ 2, so it may be new wood (I'll have to revisit an original episode to compare the artwork and check that those Saturns weren't always there). Not sure about the wood coming from Glastonbury Grove ~ the townsfolk know about this place, and its power... although on the other hand that could be motivation for a power hungry businessman to harvest that wood?!
Interesting theory on the noise. I like it. And as Saturn aligns with ?? ... and the Coopers fulfill their destinies, the full story reveals itself?!
hi the "saturns" are the eyes of the animal in the native american mural behind his desk. same artwork as in the 90's. this particular shot may well have been set up to isolate the eyes from the rest of the mural...but they have always looked like saturn; i remember them from the original series.
Saturn is the "god of time" (in the Roman tradition). And the red room/waiting room has that statue of Uranus.
Indeed, the 'Saturns' have always been there.

And so they have! All along, hidden in plain sight. Thanks.
There's also a model of Saturn on the end table next to Good Cooper in the red room in episode one.
In greek myth, Saturn eats his children, the opposite of what the Giant does in episode 8. Is the Giant actually Saturn a.k.a. Father Time?
Or someone has said that the statue in the red room is not Saturn but Uranus. Uranus in myth is The Sky, one of the oldest of the Titans. Dale seems to be falling through the sky for a while at the beginning of season three. And in season two the symbol that a few people end up getting marked with on their bodies is shown coming out of the sky like a UFO.

Interesting. In the other new thread about Diane's gesture when she says "Let's rock," a user pointed out that her two fingers together represent Jupiter and Saturn, and they're touching, i.e. in conjunction.
The allegories never end hahaha
