The brothers are always trying to get their attention and failing as if they're lost in another world, or maybe they're like Dougie? At first I thought they might just be a stereotype of the ditsy, blonde showgirl, but now I'm not so sure. Are they manufactured people? Are they seers like The One Armed Man? Are they coming back from their own black lodge too?

The manufactured people seem to be "whole" in outward appearance. After all, Dougie seemed "normal" such as it is before he was pulled back and replaced by Good Coop.

They're certainly not "just blondes," and yes, I thought much the same on first glance, but the more we see them, the less I think so either. It's like the brothers don't understand what's wrong with them either, so it makes me wonder how long they've been around. Well enough to be known to them and their strange behavior, of course.

The come off as abit of a Gteek chorus to me.

But something is definitely up with Candy. The fly/remote scene was strange. Also strange was that the mobsters seemed more compassionate to her than anything else.

They're clearly important, otherwise I doubt Lynch would dedicate as much time to them as he does. The precise nature of their importance remains a mystery though.

I've heard the theory that Candie is Laura, but I don't know because there's still so many things that we haven't figured out about how exiting the Lodge works. I personally think she's messing with the brothers, however I have no way of knowing why or anything concrete for that matter.

My headcanon is that the Mitchum brothers started to making it big with their casinos so they figured a pair of high rollers like themselves would look even better with a trio of showgirls as their personal assistants.  Candie ended up being more high maintenance and spacier than they realized and on top of that she's got all this emotional baggage so they end up taking care of her more then she takes care of them.  So now they're this big weird Vegas family with three showgirls and two gangster brothers all living in the same house.

Sitcom!

I guess they could be more important but I still get the vibe that they're just fun quirky Lynch characters.  Nadine was never the second coming of Laura but she still got a lot of screen time.

Candie's behaviour changed after the violent incident with Rodney Mitchum. I believe that was the trigger.

She was a space cadet even before then.  But, as I said before, I think there's much more than that about her.  Something's happening under the surface.

'She has nowhere else to go.'

The Mitchum's are protecting her and sheltering her. It will be interesting to find out about her previous life. Perhaps she and the other 2 ladies were rescued from a life of prostitution similar to that experienced by another trio of women via Flesh World: Theresa, Laura & Ronette.

Maybe there is a link to Bob/Bad Cooper.

Candy = Annie.

"She's from another time and place.  She'd struggle in the real world."

The other girls are unimportant.

One of the girls does nothing but pour drinks. Black coffee for example.
Candie now serves cherry pie. The third is likely to have another "wake-up-and-remember-yourself, Dale" talent we have yet to see.

At first I thought they were all tripping out on Sparkle and that the drug would be the connection between them and Twin Peaks but I no longer think that. The parallel between the traffic jams in Vegas and Twin Peaks has me keeping an eye open for more Vegas/TP parallels and wondering just what they mean.

I've said before I think Candie is Laura in the same way as Dougie is Cooper, just a bit further along the process. I think when they both look at each other or touch it will awaken them both.

I think it's fascinating that Mandie and Sandie make eye contact with Rodney but Rodney only ever addresses Candie, who is generally looking up and to the right until Bradley gets her attention.

Is there a thread somewhere about the Candie/Laura theory?  Hadn't heard it before; it has possibilities.  For her ditzyness, she's more articulate, and has more self-awareness than Dougie Coop - maybe Laura's been inhabiting the Candie vehicle for a longer time, and is further along toward a full awakening?

I think this about everyone in this series. Everyone is so focussed on themselves that they don't know what's happening around them or to anyone else.

Janey-E, Nadine, Deputy Holcomb, screaming lady in car, Dougie's colleague, Shelley (with Red), Dougie obviously. And certainly Candie.

Nearly everyone is half asleep, barely lucid. It's like everyone (including Coop maybe) is going to wake up soon to find they've been barely conscious for the past 25 years. People are quite literally sleepwalking.

It could be Lynch's film style or it could be part of the story.

Agreed! I think she was a double in the same way Dougie was and has "returned" at an earlier time. She may be integral to assisting Cooper's re-emerence... but how?
