Owl Cave symbolism

What is the difference between the Owl Cave symbol and the Owl Cave Ring? Why does the ring have an extra line?

I'm also wondering why the book (TSOTP) has the one of the owl cave symbol and not of the ring?

And what is the difference between inverted use of the symbol compared to the 'normal' use of it?

Glad to hear some insights in this matter.

Good point: let's have a closer look at the several symbols and compare it with the owl cave drawing. Could the 'wings'  be the Peaks of Twin Peaks? Indicating that the tilted square in the middle indicates the Lodges location? On the owl cave map the thing that  is inbetween the Peaks is Snoqualmie Falls...therefore...The Great Northern. Very prominent in the leader!
