Several characters from Season 1, Season 2 and FWWM/Missing Pieces didn't feature in The Return and their fates were left largely unknown/unresolved (Chet, Annie, Donna, Leo, Sam etc...).

Which character would you most liked to have seen in The Return?

Of those still living, it would be Harry and TMFAP.

I am not sure I needed to see any of these people, but would have loved to learn at least something new about:

Chet

Donna

Annie

Josie

At least with Harry and TMFAP we got some updated story notes.

As I've said every other time, LEO! Couldn't we all benefit from some **spit** new shoes.

Jeffries, as played by Bowie.  Not archive footage, the real thing.  It's a damn shame he was too ill.  I think it's clear his illness was the reason he declined the offer to reprise his role.

Reading other things around Bowie's illness, he didn't want to have the news spread around; even one of his closest friends - Peter Gabriel - didn't know and they'd been speaking on the phone the day before Bowie died.

So, knowing how much time he had left (more or less) he chose to concentrate on his music.  I'm pleased he spent his last months doing the things he loved but the selfish part of me wants more.  Still, Blackstar is a cracking album.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a trip through the woods for Jerry coming across a cabin with the decomposed remains of Leo in them.

Indeed.

Or perhaps a totally alive Leo with his own hemp farm up in the woods.....or as the billionaire owner of the glassbox warehouse.  😀

Aha!  That explains things.  It's actually Leo's foot.

Chuffing hell, everything makes sense now.

Harry was the one I missed the most. Robert Forster did a fine job and it's not his fault, but his character never felt to me like more than a half-assed replacement (which Lynch reinforced by having him explain why he's here instead of Harry right to the bitter end).

Someone might know more about this than I do, but I'm pretty sure I heard Joan Chen wanted to be in the revival and was turned down. Unless there's more to it, that seems really odd. Wouldn't you think that while finding his way out of the Lodge or crossing dimensions or traveling through time, Cooper might at some point find himself in the place that Josie's soul got sucked into - or even a version of reality where she's still alive? Seriously, imagine Josie showing up as the motel clerk in the Odessa Universe. Getting chills just thinking about it.

Two of my biggest questions about TP are :

- Why did Josie get trapped in the drawer in season 2 ?

- Cooper's main reason to get in the lodge was to get Annie back. Knowing it's Dark Coop that came out, why didn't Good Coop ask where Annie was when he awoke ?

So the two main characters I would've loved to see return in season 3 are Josie and Annie.

I'd say Harry and LMFAP but we all know why they weren't there.

...but Chet and Annie...

...I have no idea why they weren't included.

I'd CTRL-Z the entire Becky/Stephen disappointment for plot lines containing Chet and Annie in a heartbeat.

Sam Stanley would've been cool to see.

Poor Sam.  I felt Diane throughout the show resembled what I thought Sam might be like post FWWM.

Hmm... Definitely Harry. Everything felt wrong where he should have been.

Pete was always a favourite of mine. At least they sort of added him in...

Never liked Josie. I like the electric tree better than Anderson. A lot of other missing characters weren't much of a loss... Kind of weird how Donna wasn't even mentioned, but I totally get that.

I guess I would have liked to have seen the Tremonds/Chalfonts. I had always wanted to know more about them.

Would have liked to have seen Leo get hit by a truck. Guess I'll have to take the trucker who slightly resembled him as a consultation prize.

Major Briggs actually making an appearance would have been nice, but they did what they could with that.

Same goes for BOB, of course. Silva made himself into such a freaky character that I actually had nightmares the first time they flashed back to him in The Return. I love how scary BOB is! So much scarier than regular horror villains. (I've got Freddy Krueger stuff all over my bedroom, but I don't think I could put a picture of BOB up. Too scary!)

Obviously having Bowie back would have been great, but a "tea kettle" is nice too. 😉

Yeah, I think that's it. I don't much care about the other missing characters.

Before anyone asks, I always felt that Annie and John Justice Wheeler were a betrayal of Lynch and Frost's original artistic vision, so I was kind of offended that they existed at all.

As to why Cooper didn't ask about Annie, why didn't he ask about Audrey or any number of characters? Either he did and we weren't shown it, or he just didn't have the time to slow down and focus on anything other than his quest.

Also, he only knew her for like a week. Who cares?
