Why was Naido naked?

Maybe she had to be naked to wear Lucy's bathrobe later at the Sheriff's Office.

Six months ago Lynch was at the Emmy FYC.

And 6 months after that, I'm still asking myself why Lynch asked this question to the audience, it seems that it was something important for him. For understanding what ?

This is from a IndieWire page :

Lynch kicked off the panel with another piece of trivia. Right as he took the stage, the director asked the crowd, “Whose bathrobe is that?”, referring to the pink robe Dern was wearing in the picture displayed behind him.

After a few wrong guesses, someone yelled “Lucy’s,” to which Lynch said, “That’s right.” (They’re referring, of course, to the sheriff’s receptionist, Lucy Brennan.)

So it turns out there are some questions the ambiguous auteur is willing to answer.

Naido / Diane is wearing the pink robe at the Sheriff's Office with Dale Cooper with no FBI pin.

And Diane is wearing the same robe in the Great Northern basement with Gordon and Dale with a FBI pin. In a different timeline. In the unofficial version.

BTW, this a magical robe. 😉

It belongs to Lucy, a small woman, and the robe (and the pajamas) were perfect for Naido :

When Naido is changing into Diane (Laura Dern is a tall woman, 5'10") the robe and the pajamas were still perfectly sized :

Oh I  had forgotten about that !

So he really wanted us to notice the robe..... but why?

Lucy said it had been there for awhile, since a lost dog incident wasn't it?

As for it being magically able to fit the 3 women,  these robes are one size fits all. Though there probably were 2 sets of pyjamas made.

The experiment,  Mother and Naido all nude.

Is the experiment /box monster and Mother one and the same? Their heads look different to me.

Some sort of connection between those three women and Lucy,   maybe?     If so,   perhaps Andy is the answer,    at least in part.

A thought on why Naido was nude, which might make sense in line with all the time-out-of-sync stuff; when is the last time we see Diane? In the motel, having sex with Coop, but more importantly she's naked. And not only that but when Coop wakes, she's disappeared and he's in a completely different room, like someone's loaded up a save slot for a different part of a video game than the one you'd  just been playing.

Was Diane removed from the hotel room after having sex with Coop and deposited as Naido into a different timeline/dimension into the recent past? If so, why and by who? We talk about Laura being removed but maybe it also occurs to Diane. Also, making Naido blind: a metaphor for repression? Repressing the memories of her rape by Mr C that have just been evoked by her strange lovemaking with Coop?

Yes I  posited that theory a while back. I'm not sure how it would all work but I  think it has merit.

She looks japanese (the actress is japanese) and she was maybe another victim (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) of the birth of evil with the first test in New Mexico.

Many victims in Japan were horribly mutilated after the bomb (and many children born after 1945 were mutilated too because their parents were exposed to the radiations).

The Diane tulpa wore Asian inspired clothing throughout season 3.

Without any more Twin Peaks though,    I think the clothing will just remain an affectation for now.       The beauty of the show being that we can draw many conclusions,    and most of them have merit.

The Asian clothing is a good clue, though, which can be used to apply to various seemingly disconnected parts within season 3.  For example, the Asian clothing associated with Diane also links up with 'Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima' being played when the 'good' Becky went on a murderous rampage when Steven abandoned her for his mistress.  Also, the similar scenery of Diane walking through the hallway with a gun in the Buckhorn hotel to meet with the Blue Rose task force shortly before she was killed......linking up with Becky walking through a hallway with a gun to confront Steven.  It points to some sort of duality or cracking within a person: Dougie/Mr. C puke at the sight of one another and want each other dead, Diane/Janey-E hate one another, 'good' Becky and Becky on a murderous rampage after she cracks, or confronts 'Hiroshima'....linking with episode 8 showing a sort of 'exploded center' of the world and mind...causing the cracks in the world, the vortexes, and the crazed 'woodsmen' circling around it.

This idea of a split simultaneously within people and the world also can be applied to the purple room, where Naido first appears and commits suicide via electrical shock, then Briggs appears and says 'blue rose', split into tulpa, then appears the sad 'American Girl' who is scared of her mother.  Cooper is also split given his relation to the corresponding woman and world as he is squeezed out through a non-matching electrical socket which sends both Dougie and Mr. C into crisis.  Applying this purple room split to the duality Diane/Janey-E results in this formula, then:

  Naido:Diane }{ Janey-E:American Girl

The clue of the Asian clothes helps to link Diane to Naido, Diane who is also 'suicidal' in a way, going to the end in enjoyment(drinking, 'the stable', etc.) and eventually trying to kill the blue rose task force.

A very minor observation, but one I only noticed last night. In part 17, when Philip Jeffries says to Coop "There may be someone...did you ask me this?" I'm sure Philip Gerard shakes his head to say 'no'.

Not a major revelation but a nice little detail I thought.

What the hell with the multiple posts of the same topic?

Did someone leave the gate unlocked again?

I do think we were invaded a few days ago.      Things seem to have cleared up now,    though.
