As my wife and I were watching episode 9, I joked that the noise could be Josie Packard / door knob.

I don't think this is the case but it got me wondering if there will ever be closure as to why she ended up being trapped in that door knob.

Given the recent discussions around frequencies and trans dimensional stuff from the zone blog, I wonder if this relates to that. Maybe there's some gateway opening up there.

Or maybe it is Josie Packard trying to communicate :p

It's the noise made my Major Briggs' metal tube isn't it? I assumed that the tone made when Bobby hit it off the ground is the same as that in the Great Northern, and I thought that that must be the conduit area.

I spoke to a guy on Facebook who took a sample of the sound and looked at the wavelength graph thing for the sound (I don't know the actual term) and, predictably, it formed two peaks. Sound design by David Lynch.

The noise began a week before the key arrived.

Yep.  The key was calling ahead.  😉

I had posted an idea a few weeks ago that this could be a visual clue-possibly either a reference to an Owl, or that the light is indicating that something is happening between the two peaks. I have a feeling it means a portal is opening, and given that we haven't yet seen the white lodge opening. The Owl cave map also shows what appears to be a row of beings over the two peaks...

Sorry, having formatting issues-meant to say that we may see the White Lodge open for the first time on-screen. "Jackrabbit's Palace" is on Blue Pine Mountain (the right peak) near listening post Alpha.

Looking at Owl Cave map again, I'm wondering if the petroglyph of the "beings" over both peaks could mean that there is a "council" of sorts that is arriving to put the lodges back in balance and act as judges....
