As if I wasn't freaking out enough about the 'coins' thing....what about red shoes?

We know that Jeffries wore red shoes the day he appeared/disappeared in the Philadelphia office.... And we know THEY MUST MEAN SOMETHING because of they way Cooper looks at them....He knows something is up with them....even Diane is wearing them

Could it be that the red shoes are worn by the EVIL DOPPLEGANGERS? therefore why Diane is in touch with MRC and also showing us that the one appearing in Philly was evil Jeffries...

I saw the red pumps and thought of Audrey.

I never even noticed Jeffries red shoes before.  Is red always red room related?  How many times am I going to have to rewatch this show!

I read ages ago that the red shoes had something to do with JUDY garland/ Dorothy  from  the wizard of OZ....

It would makes sense I guess....red shoes to take you somewhere else...another weird dimension....and this Judy again....

Oh jeez how did I not even make that connection!

So what about his fixation with the flag in that scene, with the music.  I couldn't decide if he was slowly getting his memory back of where he comes from, it had something to do with being part of the FBI, or there's always the color thing again.  Red and Blue at least are big in the TP universe.

ABSOLUTELY Red and blue are important... I believe the 3 elements together helped him connect the dots or at least start to... but I don't know how long it will take him

its excruciating

Maybe Doppelgängers are colorblind? That would explain why episode 8 had Black and White, as well as the 'Black Lodge' being very, obviously, red?

That would make Cooper's distinction of the color very important in terms of his authenticity as proper Cooper and not DoppleDale.

Second this. It reminds me of Audrey as well, esp during S1 when she spent so much time seducing Coop, while wearing red shoes.

Hopefully this (and the brief scene w/Johnny Horne) implies we'll see her soon.

Diane was wearing Red Shoes in the episode. I think the significance may be Coop seeing the Red Shoes in a law enforcement setting reminded him of Diane. Perhaps Red Shoes are one of signature clothing items.

Pretty sure the shoes worn by Bowie in FWwM were pink not red.

And a reference to the Lynchian Powell & Pressburger The Red Shoes (1948) - on demonic possession / obsessions, on having a calling / wearing a badge, on masculine failure and exploitation (protection) of women.

Yes, red shoes are quite old theme from old tales where they mean seduction, playfulness up to exhaustion - see Hans Christian Andersen's "The Red Shoes".  Also, in medieval Europe red was compulsory to wear by prostitutes.

Now, maybe the shoes from this episode were just a means to drive attention and by luck (and Dougie has a lot of luck) to drive attention to the electricity socket.

In the original iconography of The Tarots of Marseille, The Fool in wearing Red shoes.  Also The vest is yellow And Red, The colours of Diane Bracelets.  I felt a steady eye from the director to those two bracelets a well.

In the end this episode just surpassed the idea of Diane as a tough cookie victim and suggesting that she is hiding stuff.
