I thought it looked more like a LOT of bandages than an actual cast, and it is POSSIBLE that he did it himself, between this scene and his leaving the room (I also watched that scene a million times trying to figure it out with the mirror).

And for what it's worth, I still think it is unclear that the moan is not coming from the hand. In an episode in which a foot speaks, can a hand not moan (yes, Jerry is quite high, but Ike is quite drunk!).

Quite drunk?  We saw him take two drinks.  Not enough to make a mouse drunk where I come from.  Granted the bottle was empty then but there's no way of knowing how much was in there before the scene began.

Anyhow, it wasn't the hand moaning.  So there.  😉

Let's agree to disagree 😉

rbowser, I think you had it right the first time.  While it appears like his left arm when he walks away, the arm on the left side when his back is turned is his right arm.  That's why it's intentionally bent and his forearm is in front of body (to conceal the bandages).  Thus, I think it's already bandaged when he's taking the drink facing the mirror.  If you notice the left hand on the right side when his back to us swings relatively freely.

Thus, the cheat you observed was just that they concealed it when he was facing the mirror because he pours/drinks/calls with his left hand with his right shoulder lowered and right arm out of view and then gets up and turns and raises his right arm in front of his body.

On the other hand... it could be he bandaged it after, but he's still concealing his right arm when he walks toward his luggage on the bed (and you don't see him touch the luggage with the right hand either before the scene cuts).

Thanks for the reply, Rob. Wow, and thanks for pulling me out of Looking Glass Land. I was balled up with keeping arms straight after he turned his back. Blame it on watching too much TP!

I agree also that his arm is already bandaged when he's facing the mirror and drinking. The continuity of the scenes in the room cutting back and forth to the police are continuous. Ike gets up, packs his bags, and goes straight to the door and out into the hall. The police are coming in the building, then we see Ike going down the hall awhile before the police arrive. That's all continuous, with zero time for him to wrap his hand up after getting stuff from his bed. The theory stated on this thread that he bandaged himself after going to the bed was interesting but not supported by the footage. The bandage was purposely blocked while still in the room, so a reveal could happen when Ike raised his arms in the hall.

OK then - moving on!  Thanks again.

Looking back at this ignominious thread of mine - Edit buttons are gone, so it all stays up, but I think it can be seen now as a Public Safety Alert!

I have no idea why I was seeing things backwards for a couple of days when I was posting on this topic. Somehow I had gone to a weird head space where my orientation and ability to comprehend reality got scrambled when someone turns their back to a mirror. What the...?

As I said elsewhere on the Forum - take this as a warning! Playing The Return episodes over too many times can lead to possible bad side effects. Talk to your doctor first before starting a regimen of TP replays. The mind you save could be our own.

I know! That's why I've thoroughly smudged my house. Skeery.
