The strange thing is that it was almost as if she had expected a text. Like she knew that it was coming. Notice how she's on the lookout when she grabs her phone, wanting to be sure the rest of the team has left the room and that she's all alone.

A couple of things I wondered about...   When Tammy kept changing position/ sending a code, she kept looking at Diane as if she expected a response - but wasn't getting that.  That would fit in with Gordon Cole's 'test' of smoking back in the day - and it not being the real Diane.

Also, the lively table message could have been relayed on by Cole (don't ask how the original BadCoop message would have been passed to him, as I have no ideas!) The reason?  It was SHOUTED.  Maybe she was supposed to recognise it was from Gordon as it was shouty??

Diane is having a cigarette and Gordon is silently looking at her and then look at the cig, constantly rotating between the two (with maybe a couple random glimpses of Tammy with a complimentary smile). Tammy is so uncomfortable because she's having her hands on a (THE) live Blue Rose case with Gordon, who took her from the FBI offices, and Diane doesn't care  for her and blatantly disrespects her (akah the good old "What's your name again? Fuck you, Tammy!"). Neither Gordon or Albert protected/defended Tammy from Diane, so she takes it as if she is not on the cool kids' street, you know? She feels that tension. Diane is on a complete different level, her mind racing about the text she just received and the responsibility that comes with it.

There's those 3 different atmospheres colliding:

Tammy is uncomfortable as fuck with Diane and her feelings.

Gordon is craving a cig and the nostalgia for hanging out with Diane like in the good ol' times.

Diane is anxiously smoking giving exactly zero fucks about an uncomfortable approval-seeking Tammy, while pondering what the hell to do with the text she just got.

Then Gordon breaks the tension up by asking for a puff, which Tammy doesn't like and doesn't approve (taking her further away from Diane and -from her own perception- from Gordon as well). They share that nostalgic moment, then head back to the interrogation room, where Tammy kicks ass at her job.

We just gotta wait. They shown us Diane got the same text Mr. C wrote. They made it very clear, but also they shown us its lay out is different to the text Mr. C sent. They want us to think about this, to make a mental note about it, to not let it pass by. But overthinking it is incorrect, they won't feed you up "she received the text, so that's the plot twist". If Diane is collaborating with Mr. C in any way, it's probably more complicated than "she faked the interview because she's her lackey, too" and we'll dive into that later on. Sit tight and speculate, but don't take anything for granted, assuming stuff is almost always incorrect.

I don't think the difference in case was an oversight. Earlier in the episode on the plane, Cole makes it a point to spell out Knox: capital K, lower case n, etc.

So it must have been transcribed, which makes me think Diane is working with someone else who is also tracking (or associated with) bad Cooper.

That's the best analysis, IMO.

Of course it's more complicated than She faked The interview.  Still I think You have To be blind not To catch the signals about Diane in this episode.

- She is waiting for the message

-She is shown awake during Gordon's telephone Call about Major Briggs.  And At the end we see Gordon waking her up.  She's faking to be asleep.

Apart from these facts, it's how She was sitting in the morgue that made me have a crazy idea: Is She now the one possessed by BOB?

Well I guess I can't argue with facts...

Being awake and pretending to be asleep is also a way not to be interacted with, which is probably because she's mad at Gordon for dragging her into SD for the stressful meeting with Mr. C. It could mean nothing as well, I know I played asleep for no reason with my family and gf and did it just because, not for some hidden intention.

The only fact is that she wanted to use her phone in the plane while Albert slept, but it doesn't mean she was expecting the text (my guess is she was just bored to death on the flight.). That's just what you want to make of it, I don't. I don't care about being right or wrong about assumptions and guesses, but calling people blind for not expecting what you expect is silly.

What about the BLOCKED message? Who BLOCKED who? I never see that on my phone. Diane looked upset by it.

You sound offended still the message was not about you 😉

I would guess some kind of EM screening on board the plane.  No unauthorized communications, that sort of thing.

That's just Lynch's way of displaying technology in a magical way where it does whatever he thinks it can do, I believe. It should be something like a "no signal" message, but Lynch is too Lynch for that shit so he just puts a black screen with a red BLOCKED message (a la magical trick to "fool" the tracking device).

Not offended at all, I don't care about it. Just giving you my 2 cents about an attitude I consider wrong, especially when it comes down to David Lynch.

I don't think Diane is a doppelganger, nor do I think she's in cahoots with Mr C.

Instead, I think Mr C has some dirt on Diane, just like he did with the prison warden. Information he couldn't possibly know, yet does.

So I think it's a threat for her to work with him or else. I don't think she will. I hope not anyway!

What if it's not about Diane's doppelganger or her being assaulted by Coop, but I was thinking more seduced and depraved. We never actually saw her in the original run but surely she seemed a devoted worker, familiar with all Cooper' s moves. So when he arrived at her place she simply followed her boss in this crooked road. Probably being nice, kind, decent woman in the past, she is now rude alcoholic cougar femme fatale with bad mouth. Perfect assistant for someone like Mr C.

I was under the impression that Mr. C—under the guise of Coop—had visited Diane's house and seduced her. I think Diane felt betrayed by him for hoofing it afterwards, hence her reaction in the prison. Could Mr. C be blackmailing Diane somehow a la Warden Murphy? If so, what does he have on her, and what does she have to talk to Gordon about? Text message was definitely code for something – in the same vein as: "the cow jumped over the moon".

This was my thought. Also, the young man leaving Diane's house when Gordon and Albert visit her looks similar to Cooper, in a "I'm only attracted to people who look like Dale Cooper" vibe. She's obviously bitter about a lot of things related to the FBI, most likely feels abandoned, and most certainly doesn't know everything related to the last few days/weeks before Coop "went missing".

Tammy's getting the personal treatment. Diane is acknowledging Tammy & the FBI's appreciation with this saintly gesture. (Especially considering Diane asked for her name first. That's going above and beyond.)

That's all I particularly wanted to say here. I'm curious and troubled by the text too, but everyone's already covered enough things that all there is to do is wait for the payoff...there are at least a dozen different readings of Diane's body language and what her receipt of the text might mean, and we lack so much context right now. The only thing that is definite is that this is one hell of an important scene.

I'm still fascinated by Tammy's body language in the cigarette scene.  Yes, she has very exaggerated, stylised movements as the character anyway - but there's something really odd & uncomfortable to watch here.  She obviously feels threatened & pissed off, but her fixed poses & staring at Diane/looking away is very odd.  I don't know, maybe it's a female thing??

The other thing that struck me - round about the 1 minute mark on that video, she reminded me of someone - though maybe I'm just losing my marbles 🙂 :
