So the Woodsmen seem to be beings of power, that is literal electrical power. They create an electrical sound, a crackle, and they cast flickering light on driver of the car. I think this is why they say 'Got a light?' I wonder, as an aside, are they connected to the power lines in the intersection where the boy gets run over?

Anyway, they're attracted to the radio station and begin their broadcast. This has the effect of sending the audience to sleep. It seems the opposite of Jacobi's colorful broadcast, which is trying to awaken his audience. I think we're seeing aspects of the media here, it's potential to anesthetize or enlighten its viewers.

Are the Woodsmen the embodiment of a new, post industrial power misapplied, like the bomb is a misapplication of nuclear power?

I feel like the woodsmen are a rogue element led by Bob created in the destruction of definitive lines between the two worlds. There's a difference of behavior in the Arm from the original run to now. Before the Arm seemed to enjoy Bob's roguish behavior and chaotic mischief. However as time has gone and the Lodges have become corrupted just as our world has, the Arm has taken on a new form and a new opinion on priority. I don't merely dismiss this as a change from Michael J. Anderson to the electrified tree due to casting complications. The character itself has gone from a sinister and mocking sort of behavior to that of deep sorrow and benevolence.

It would seem like Jacobi is the opposite of the woodsmen because of what he is saying(corporate conspiracy, etc.), but this opposite actually compliments and supports the woodsmen.  There are problems in how Jacobi is talking about the social-political problems, and how to deal with them, which makes him end up like the woodsmen, exposes that how he deals with the problems creates the problems itself(form of thoughts, subjectivity, forming of reality, process of dealing with problems, how you see the problems creates/destroys reality, etc.).  Jacobi talks about screwing the vamp for liberty(Laura, who he was obsessed with), how twin peaks and its 'huckleberry' and pure water are fine(only polluted by outside sources, acai), and finally uses a golden shovel (gold, money, profiting/enjoying from ethical-social exchange) to dig out of the shit(brown, failure, pain losing from ethical-social exchange) after which you will reach a guaranteed bright light(like Becky after taking drugs and being talked to with sleazy sexual commentary).

Whats wrong with this approach?  Jacobi never faced up to the problems that Laura and her tragedy exposed, and that these problems came from within him and within twin peaks(our world and how we create reality) itself, from within our world and all of us. Thus, Jacobi still wants to screw the 'vamp' Laura, blames the problems on external sources as if everything will get better if you eliminate some 'bad' people, and still seeks to profit from the world as it is directly by using the golden shovel without doing the hard work of changing himself and the world, working from within in it, but looks for direct quick fixes that are bound to fail and only make you end up in shit again(drugs, the junkie woman, becky, laura, etc. are on the same page).  Jacobi ended up in shit, not satisfied with the world and how ethics-society deals with people, how people exchange with one another.

To solve the problems, Jacobi went deep into the woods, like a woodsmen, and is clearly burnt by social exchange: like an exploited worker or woodsmen who is burn and beaten down by work, who has had his lifes goals(trees, etc.) and efforts taken away from him by a capitalist owner who appropriates his gold profit that is made from his labors and life struggling towards goals, overcoming problems, etc., Jacobis enjoyments and profits etc were destroyed systematically by society-ethics-economy, and this entire ethical antagonism exploded openly like an atom bomb with the laura tragedy, revealing some brutal truths about the society.  How does Jacobi deal with this problem, by acting in the same way that caused the problems and denying their is a problem, so that even though Jacobi knows it is corrupt to the core(black within), he is unwilling to destroy the normal facade that everything is alright, some foreigners/terrorists caused the problems(white on the surface which complements the black), all so he can continue to chase and preserve access to the precious gold-Laura.  This is the approach of a woodsmen, BOB, burnt by the atomic blast, has had the product of his struggles taken from him by society-world-economy-ethical exchange, etc., thus they know it is 'black within', but deal with it by continually getting profit with a gold shovel, always needing a light, taking drugs(becky, junkie woman who lost her husband-dougie), going to extremes to hide the radical conclusion that white-law-world-the people themselves and how they deal with problems are causing all of the problems, and there is no easy way out, only an atomic blast at the center that will have to be solved by changing ethical exchange, spirit, world, economy, etc.  Looking at the center will just get you burnt again, nothing is guaranteed, the old world is dying and decaying, never coming back.  This is what woodsmen and Jacobi hide from, like the people watching his show: Nadine hides from the fact that there was never love in her marriage and continues to get instant enjoyment from being with the 'cool' Ed, then ends up in shit when her cotton balls schemes fail, tries to kill herself going to extremes; while Jerry Horne engages in profiting from drugs, takes drugs out in the middle of the woods like a woodsmen, goes to extremes, etc.  In hiding from the core problems, that nothing is in the center old world is dying, while continuing on with a failed 'form' way of exchanging with society, keeping the old 'white' law alive with their evil.  They want to drink the pure artisian twin peaks water(golden laura) for themselves, like BOB, they need it, cannot give it up, while becoming immune to and ignoring the shit/brown, as if it will go away magically if you kill a few criminals then act to reproduce the same problems-world-society, etc. that created the problems, killed Laura and gave her no way out, etc.  Jerry horne needs a light out there in the woods, and hes gonna get burnt like the woodsmen....

What is another way to recognize the problems and deal with them in the proper way, giving up the old form-world-ways of exchange and profiting from these corrupted and decaying relations, etc., recognizing the shit it produces, and systematically dealing with the problems that led to Laura, what is the third? Paul Mua' dib from Dune, and in this season of twin peaks, so far we have:  Carl Rodd and Mickey were all dressed in brown/shit, and were talking about the same things as Jacobi(damn government, etc.), but did not start taking drugs or blaming external sources(acai, terrorists, etc.), instead Carl Rodd looked at the trees(world nature, etc.), wanted to see a good world, then was pleased with the kid and mother. Now the exchange between mother/child and Richard(who like Jacobi goes directly from shit/humiliation to gold/profit of breaking the law, drugs, right back on top without settling the world, fixing the problems, break old society through hard work): kid is hit by the truck.  Now Carl Rodd sees the golden flame, the surplus-gold-profit...what kind of profit is this?  Profit of wanting to fix the problems of social exchange, the world-nature, etc. so that he could have some basic conditions of decency and live some kind of civil life, to actually obtain the goal from ones labors. Also, we have Janey E, who confronts the problems of ethical exchange and profit, limits the money that goes to the gangsters, talks about the 99%, and tries to restore Dougie and the home to some basic decent conditions, getting profit from fixing the problems.....

This is the difference between revolutionary approach of people who are denied the goal of the labors systematically by corrupted ethics-society-economy, and those who become a corrupted rabble by hiding from the world that creates their problems(BOB is a 'mamas boy'/normal bates who hides from dealing with the world, thus he is dependent on 'mother' laura, why he is chasing and trying to kill her) and thus support the existing order-white which is killing them in order to get cheap arbitrary profits(drugs, cheap sex, thrills, etc.) at the expense of the world and the people 'burnt' like they are.  The rabble sees that everything is black, and they enjoy this, seek it, this is all there is, and there is some promised light if they just get some profits, they always need a light, and end up crippled dead like the junkie girl without every solving the problems that create their situations systematically.
