Coupled with nuclear bomb tests and invaders from another place.

I got this lovely little sense of an homage to 1950s B-horror movies whilst watching these scenes.

So what does that say about the creation of Bob and Laura?
Also that diner looked familiar.

Perhaps all these characters are paradigms- think of the way that Deer Creek was presented in FWWM as the doppelganger Twin Peaks, with twisted versions of Sherrif Truman, Andy, Lucy, Norma and the RR.

The young girl and her Beau? The Waitress? The mechanic? These are ideas!

I am VERY curious to see what Big Ed's appearsnce is going to look like- the promo image is a dark-looking one...

I thought the exact thing! Especially when the couple stops the car when all the "lumbrjacks" (if that's what we are calling them) were crossing the road. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD! DON'T STOP YOUR CAR!

The waitress and mechanic are listed as mother and father, in the credits. So they are parents of one of the children most likely.

I thought the mother and father were the two people in the car.

Of course, I could be totally wrong.

Yeah I quick google of Leslie Berger (New Mexico Wife) & Tad Griffith (New Mexico Husband) shows them looking like the couple in the car.

The waitress and the mechanic were left uncredited it seems...

Thank you last night I watched that for the credits and forgot about the people in the car when I was listing through. Uncredited is even odder. Thanks for that. Haven't uncredited actors been important in the past?

It's more that in those roles you would expect a credit (especially from Lynch were speaking or non-speaking doesn't make a difference), I mean the Experiment got a credit.  If they weren't important or revealing their names wouldn't give too much away, then I suspect they'd be credited.  It's an odd omission for sure.

That is what I mean I suspect their names matter.

I don’t know if this has been speculated already, but could the young boy be Carl Rodd? I feel like there might be some resemblance....
