Jane-E has apparently been tolerating Dougie's brainless behavior for years, and has no job of her own for some reason.) tells me that Jane-E and Sunny Jim are also manufactured people, or at least not what they seem.
They're going to transform back into their true selves, whatever that is.
Many children sleep with a night-light or bedside light on, fear of the dark. Very human.

I think the posssibility that Janey-e and Sonny Jim are not "real" is a distinct one. Sonny Jim in particular. Not so much his blinking. His near-total silence, his thumbs-up, the way he seemed to "switch off" in the car, causing Dougie's tears, just makes me think he is not "real" (kinds makes me want to cry as well)...
I hate to be the one to break it to you, but none of the people are real. They are all played by actors.
