Weird question, but have anyone here read the comic book series The Invisibles, by Grant Morrison?

Morrison (like The Secret History of Twin Peaks) is pretty enthusiastic about occultism, strange forces and their relation to human activity / science / understanding of the Cosmos. There's a full arc of the series which deals with the taming of nuclear energy and the first atomic tests. In it, when he famously became "Death, Destroyer of Worlds", Oppenheimer also opened a door in the space-time continuum which allowed dark forces to enter our reality, messed with the nature of time and stuff like that.

I'm not a specialist in the occult or anything like that. But could this concept of the birth or arrival of a great evil while humankind was discovering ways to split the atom for destructive reasons be an important one to occultists? It's fantastic to see my favourite show sharing conceptual elements with one of my favourite comic books. And if you like mindfucks (related or not to the New Mexico tests) you should definitely give The Invisibles a try.

Oh hey, I wrote about Invisibles in another thread, Bruno!  ?  (Titled : Mercury-like Substance...)

They even show Magic Mirror in this episode if you noticed!

Nice, I haven't thought of this parallel at all! It's great to see there are more fans of these two insane fictional worlds which are now apparently touching on some similar ideas.

Gonna read your post right now. Meanwhile... Gotta light?

It seems like the Woodsmen characters are a group of entities and are separate from Bob. When Dopplecoop is being revived and worked on by the Woodsmen Bob's face appears as a separate face near his stomach.

I love Lynch and enjoy that there are narratives to his work but most of the time it seems to operate by a type of dream logic.  I have had the best experiences by soaking in the images and sounds from his work and to notice connections that I see but hold them losely without trying to nail them down to absolutes and build what I think the narrative is. When I do this I will have flashes and Ah Ha's as I see connections and patterns form.  When I try to have it make linear sense right off of the bat it ends in frustration.

For part 8 I won't try to explain in detail everything that I saw but I noticed that the figure that was giving birth to those entries including Bob looked like the figure in the glass box that killed the couple. That's all I got on that for now on that one but it's enough to keep me curious and get the wheels spinning and I have a lot of fun looking at the elements of the show in this way.

I am confused. Who is "Mama"? I watched the episode yesterday, and I don't remember anyone named Mama.  Was that the fat woman in the Alien light house with the giant?

Sarah who? Sarah Palmer? That wouldn't make sense.

I think you're on the money with everything except that I think toadbug impregnated the unfortunate adolescent, thus creating Bob. Nuclear family, anyone?
