My theory is it's Sarah Palmer. Twin Peaks WIKI says she was born around 1945 which would make her about that age in 1956. The giant sends Laura's orb down to earth and it eventually hatches, etc., etc.

I was wondering whether the creature that is now located inside of 1956 girl represents Bob taking his first host or the giants orb.

I don't think it could be Laura's orb- the charcoal men seem black lodge/Bob related.

Could it have been Mrs. Tremond?

My guess is that the giant and lady are recent and that Laura's 'spirit' will manifest itself to save good Coop.

Cooper's birthdate is placed in 1954.

I'm open to the idea that she is Sarah (they could easily give or take few years from her "official" birthdate and make it sound legit), however to my faint recollection, she's a Twin Peaks native. I'll go with the theory that she's the first in line of the many Laura Palmers to come, of whom the latest one is Becky. Since time passes differently within the spirit realm, I'd go out on a limb and say Laura's disappearance before Cooper's eyes in Part 2 was actually the moment of Becky's birth.

"Mrs. Tremond & grandson" are not of our world.

If it turns out to be Sarah, I find myself wondering if the kiss the boy gave her will be of any importance. If the bug makes her pregnant of Laura, the kiss might be an explanation to her naive little mind.

Or maybe the girl is the Log Lady? Just guessing as she doesn't look anything like any of the adult characters.

Log lady is also a lifetime resident of TP and around that age she was experiencing life altering events there (see Secret history of TP)

I haven't read The Secret History either, but judging by the ages everyone looks at given times, I'd say the girl and the boy were probably 11~13 in 1956, which would place their births around 1943~45 (probably 45 for the girl, hu?), and consequently they'd be 44~46 (if alive and normally aged) during the original show, and more or less 69~71 in the present of The Return. Now if them, or at least the girl grew to be someone we already know, I'd guess they're younger than Margaret or her husband, the Horne brothers and wife, Doc Hayward, Mrs. Tremond (if she were from this world), or whoever Cooper's parents are, and older than Norma, Big Ed, Nadine, Hank, Cooper, the Truman brothers, Hawk, Andy, Lucy or Diane. To me, they seem to be more or less the same age as Sarah, Leland, Mrs. Hayward, Gerard, Gordon, Albert and Windom Earle. Am I forgetting anyone? Or just nobody we know, of course.

Just an idea, but could Girl (1956) be Linda?

I noticed strange marks on Tikaeni Faircrest's legs. Maybe that's why "Linda" needed a wheelchair in present day Twin Peaks?
