This has been discussed ad naseum in the past, but I am curious what everyone thinks now.

The scenery looks a lot  like the area round Jack Rabbit's palace.  Of course many many acres and miles of forest look like that.  Did any one notice anything specific or telling?

The area didn't look anything like the Glastonbury Grove area which in my mind would make more sense that Jerry (or just his foot) had stumbled onto that.

Is there deeper meaning here or just a comedic Horne brother's moment?

Almost all the forest scenes in The Return were filmed in Ollalie State Park, and there is often few yards between them (on the Weeks Falls Trail).

All David Patrick Kelly scenes were probably filmed the same day.

Of course. I'm just wondering if there was any tie or intention to JRP or if it's just generic forest scenery and exploration.

I think that Jerry and his foot had stumbled onto too much hydroponic indica-sativa hybrid, with a touch of the mythic AK-47 by way of the Amsterdam express.

Where is my car and where is my mind.

I always figured he dipped into the local fungus.

So we leave it as a comic interlude?

I guess that the only not-comic scene with Jerry Horne is the one with Mr C. and his enlightened son.

And even that was a bit comic with the backwards binoculars and the "bad binoculars."

I can't help but think (or just want) that Jerry's journey in TR closely mirrors some character in a Greek saga, or maybe a Sheakesperian role.  I hope someday to stumble upon some ancient story and say, "Holy shit!  Jerry Horne had the role of Phaermyacles the Wayward! Now I know.  So that's why his foot!"

I fully expect Twin Peaks to be a gift that keeps on giving.

Jerry is manipulated into place by the forces that be to be an observer of Richard getting fried.  The observer erect.  It couldn't have happened without an  observer. Tiesminto all quantum physics that runs throughout the show. Mark Frost is all into quantum physics.

That's amazing! I hope the same.

I've thought that same thing. But why. Why couldn't it have happened any other way?

The voice of his foot is like a nursery rhyme sung by a child.

Each word is a musical note.

So if it's musical, what does that imply or lead us?

Aside from Jerry fighting with his foot, I find his Hawaiian shirt quite comical although rather Jacoby-ish.

I am not a musician but maybe someone can transcribe the notes in letters.

Colored shirt and pakalolo, Hawaii is the perfect place for vacations. 🙂

Dante's Inferno ?

Dante begins his epic journey in a selva oscura — a shadowy, dark wood. He is, in every sense of the word, lost. The Romans believed that the entrance to Hades was a forest and so Dante prepares himself to push ahead into hell.

Is Jerry lost in Ghostwood forest ?

I was thinking about Dante for another scene in the woods.

The second round of the seventh circle is the Wood of the Suicides, in which the souls of the people who attempted or committed suicide are transformed into gnarled, thorny trees and then fed upon by Harpies, hideous clawed birds with the faces of women; the trees are only permitted to speak when broken and bleeding.

7th circle is violence.
