What do we think the role of Carl Rodd will be? How will his character develop? (How) Is it related to FWWM and FWWMTheMissingPieces? Is it coincidence that he is present when the accident happens? He exclaims 'God' when the soul of the boy goes 'up'...Could he become a guiding help to MemoryLossCooperLostInDougieJones'Life just like the One Armed Man (notice his 'giving energy gesture' from the Red Room) is when the case files are being looked at? Connecting the dots? Helping the old Good Cooper to wake up?

I think Carl is either another Lodge character (like "MIKE" or "BOB") or is someone under the control of one of them (like BOB controlling Leland and DoppelCoop and MIKE controlling Gerald during S1).

It's conceivable that Carl might be a vessel for MIKE. If so, he could play a crucial role later on to guide Cooper to rediscover who he really is.

From the secret history of Twin Peaks, we know Carl has been to the Lodge (one of them). I haven't read it yet, but I got that spoiled and it makes sense with the scene.

Does it mean that a person who once enter Lodge is forever altered? Mjr. Brigs, Log Lady, Cooper, Carl all were there and have/had supernatural abilities.

I believe once you have entered the lodge, you have been forever in there as it is a timeless place. I don't think time is linear in there, but in our world. Now, everyone who has been there seems to have gained some sort of clairvoyance/extra sense/some otherworldly quality.

I'm almost guessing the Giant.  He looked very similar to how "the worlds most decrepid waiter" did when Mattie died.

It would also make sense if the Linda the gaint was talking about is the one in the trailer park

It is strongly suggested in FWWM that Carl has been in the lodge(s)- he tells Chet Desmond (think we'll ever get any resolution about Chet?), "I've been places". Clearly, no one leaves the Lodge unchanged.

In that scene when the boy got run over, I thought that somehow Carl (with some other worldly powers having been in the lodge) was going to sacrifice himself for the boy's life. Carl was looking with such sadness at the mother and earlier that episode when smoking in the car he'd commented on his long life and something about "when your time was up" (I can't remember exactly). It was such a sad scene.

That scene was extremely traumatic but also indicative through Carl's lodge experience (via the Secret History) that he saw the spirit rise up and go past the electrical wires. From what I understand it to be, he saw the boy's soul ascend to heaven and not get drawn into the influence of the Lodge.
