It's really getting weirder and weirder.

I assume that was Dougie's original body. Similar weight and size to fat-suit-Dougie-Cooper. I assume he made the Cooper version of Dougie and that's the body of the original.

It's most likely Major Garland Brigg's body. When the police in South Dakota tried to run the prints on the body, they were blocked by a military clearance. In Episode 5, at the Pentagon, Ernie Hudson's character is informed that they got a "data base hit" on Garland's prints in South Dakota. How the ring got there? Haven't a clue on that!

Yeah, seems pretty clear now that it's Brigg's body. If Dougie was supposed to be Mr. C's plan to get out of being pulled back to the lodge, then think it's probably part of a long-term plan by Mr. C. to essentially frame Dougie. I.E., if the hit on Dougie were to have succeeded, then the police would track the ring in Brigg's stomach to Dougie, who would have the same fingerprints as Mr. C/Cooper - given that Mr. C. was the last person to see Briggs, then police would assume that Dougie is Coop in hiding. 

Dead Dougie/Coop found by police = no reason to continue to look for Agent Cooper and Mr. C. runs loose on the world with abandon. . .

Yeah, that's what I figured too. My only concern is it may make too much sense for Twin Peaks...

@Ryan: Dougie's body was sucked up to the Red Room from the house-for-sale (right before MemoryLossCooper came through the socket) remember? There he turned into a golden marble, so how could he have been in Ruth Davenports bed at the same time?

Well this is TP: anything is possible...but my card are on The-Body-Is-Briggs (although he has fingerpints in 16 locations over 25 years): the male corpulent corpse looked like it didn't die yesterday...

Didn't Bobby say Briggs died in the fire at the station!

And Andrew Packard died twice. The fire was Briggs destroying the station before issuing the mayday and then following the protocols.  That is my reading between the lines from the Secret History.

I'm curious to know if Janey-E will catch on that it's missing. Her preoccupation with Dougie's car has been holding up her attention for a while.
