As I noted in the "Twin Peaks: Part 1 & Part 1" when watching the first two episode the two Dale's left me with the impression of one being the Bob possessed long hair Dale doing his evil thing, and the Dale we all know being trapped in the black lodge. Now with episode 3 and 4 watched we see another Dale doppelgänger "Dougie Jones" being taken over by the Black Lodge Dale. And whats with him walking around like he has the mentality of a child?

It seems to me like his brain has been reset. Kinda hurts to see Cooper like that. I love Kyle as Mr. C!

Agreed! I'm so eager to see Cooper Cooper back, not child-mind Cooper.

Mike said that "Dougie" had been made for a purpose (that had then been fulfilled). I assume this purpose was to be sucked into the Black Lodge in the place of Evil Cooper? The question then becomes: made by who or what? And how then does he have a entire life that he's been torn out of?

That line about "Dougie" having been made for a purpose struck me as very interesting.

Could, perhaps, Annie have also been a creation made for a purpose and thus explain her non-existence. (Something else which has been brought up.)

You spend 25 years in the black lodge and then who knows how long as "non-existent" and tell me how well you re-adjust to the objective reality that exists on earth...

I actually found the whole thing about our usually fantastic Cooper being more or less senile very frustrating to watch, but that coffee scene at the end at least seemed to indicate that he'll start snapping back to reality.

I found the whole thing very similar to the Dreamland episodes of X-Files, although Mulder still had his wits with him. I was also glad that both Albert and Gordon are suspicious and not just immediately fooled by Bad Cooper, it would have been way too typical of letting that plot immediately turn into him being perceived as genuine, so I'm glad they're actually doing it this way. Also, Albert..oh man Miguel, may you rest in peace. You went out just as funny as ever (Must have been the local food, classic Albert)

I did not at all understand the whole Dougie Jones thing though. Based on what Gerard was saying, I'm starting to wonder if he was created to be a vessel or temporary replacement for the real Cooper to emerge. But if so, did he just appear magically in the real world 25 years ago?

There's so many questions that I haven't even begun to process them.

Oh, NICE reference to the final part of the Secret History of Twin Peaks where Briggs mentions being visited by Cooper and sensing that something was wrong.

I have to say I am not really understanding what is going on wit the Dougie Jones and Childlike Coop thing. It's actually quite frustrating to watch. If he was regular Cooper in the black lodge, then why is he this way after coming back out?

I Think the key to "restoring" Coop has to do with that golden Pearl Mike picks up.

i'm not sure we're supposed to understand what's happening just yet, you know? I get the impression, though, that everybody from Dougie and Evil Dale's lives will be after Cooper, which will be interesting to watch him slowly come back to reality and simultaneously deal with those messes.

Hmm...come to think of it, maybe Good Cooper was ment to replace Bad Cooper as intended (The whole time thing, and Bad Cooper talking about going back to the Lodge as if he knew this was going to happen), but that other "brain" thing (Bob?) managed to screw it up for Cooper so that Bad Cooper remained in the real world (Much like Bob and LMFAP/Mike kinda started working against eachother once BOB went rogue and LMFAP started to help Cooper to stop BOB from taking all the Garmonbozia)

So there's that option that there are two evil brain...trees, one basically being LMFAP and the other being Mike, and once more Mike tried to help Cooper, whereas BOB wanted Bad Cooper to remain in the real world as a vessel to obtain his garmonbozia, and thus interfered.

How that then connects to Dougie beats me. This is also most likely flat out wrong, but this is exactly the fun of Twin Peaks.

I think Evil Coop created Dougie 25 years ago as a stand-in for when he knew he'd have to return to the Lodge (which, that seems to be a new bit of information: BOB's time on earth is limited for each "possession"?)

Dougie was golem of sorts (in Jewish mythology, golems were created from earth or mud and were animated for a purpose and after their job is done they are returned to inanimate) and lived a life for 25 years (which included gaining weight, working some corporate job, hiring sex workers to fuck in tract houses, marrying Naomi Watts). When his time came, he went to the Black Lodge in the stead of Evil Coop, and our Special Agent was returned "half baked". I agree that perhaps the coffee was his Popeye moment: it's going to help him get back to standard working procedure. It was painful to see him so infirm but he's been pretty much trapped for so long, he couldn't possibly snap out of it quickly.

BadCoop specifically says he has a plan to stay out of the lodge, and I'd say Mike saying to Dougie that he was made for a purpose and that it's been fulfilled makes that clear.

I believe OriginalCoop and BadCoop were supposed to switch places until the Arm's doppelgänger, ostensibly conspiring with BOB/BadCoop, interferes, throwing GoodCoop into limbo. I think he ultimately finds his way out, but the paths have been moved, and as you see BadCoop actively trying to resist going back, Dougie swaps places with Good Coop. This is why Mike tells GoodCoop he's been tricked.

Since electricity seems to be a part of the medium of transportation, I wonder if the shoes having rubber soles has something to do with that, as that wouldn't conduct electricity.
