And a nonsensical SomethingVague. A few things left unresolved by Phillip the Teapot. Some suggestions.I'd love your input on any and all of them! Point 6 is the most interesting...

1. "It's slippery in here" - Is he talking about physically inside his Kettle?I think Phillip Jeffries has a close connection to time. His character shuffles around in time in FWWM. He seemingly sends Cooper off to 1989. All conversations about Jeffries involve a mention of time, or time passing (I think). I think  "here" means "the web of time"... but not a web, cause they're not slippery ;). Slippery may imply he's struggling to keep himself steady, he has so much freedom its causing him to slip and slide around with little control.

4. "This is where you'll find Judy" -  Is Jeffries again, intentionally being vague/joking with the conversation? Does Cooper literally find Judy in the end episode 17 or within episode 18? Or is it a coded phrase telling Cooper that Judy is an infinite evil that cannot be found as it is not a physical entity, and only manifests itself in the form of beings like the Experiment? and BoB? But that evil is a very real supernatural force, not one which exists purely as a category of action?

1. To me he's referring to the shape of the "8",   round and slippery. My opinion is that time in Twin Peaks world follows this shape as we have seen in that scene. And i think part 8 was the narration of the primary roots of all the events. Everything else from that is interchangeable, like the "8" that turns when Jeffries is looking for the date.

4. This is complicated to theorize, but i think Judy may not be a person but electricity itself. Those wires Cooper stares at when he stops the car and says to Diane "This is it" have the same shape of the black symbol over blue pine mountain.

That reddit theory is the most coherent explanation of a lot of the things I've been wrestling with.  And I love the "time is slippery" idea, because that fits so well with Jeffries situation.  I'm wondering if this theory ties together with what we learned from Albert about his call and their man in Columbia?

Also Phillip Jeffries is absolutely the caterpillar.

Perhaps a bit of the wizard from the Wizard of Oz as well.  The man behind the curtain?  Or is that Mike.

I strongly suspect that what is slippery "in here" is IDENTITY. Which is why it's not so easy for Philip to confirm who he is. And why Diane loses her name and Cooper's personality starts to distort. (I think a really illuminating point is how much trouble he has communicating with the waitress about the fryer and the address he wants. His utterances are almost as puzzling to her as a lodge resident's.)

Certainly, Jeffries speaks of Coop going "in" (Laura had spoken of him going "out," hmm) which suggests he's going to the slippery place.

The reason I don't think it's time that's slippery -- once Coop enters the bleak, realistic universe at the end, time seems to behave in a more linear fashion (with plenty of real-time dragginess) than it has for a while!

Slippery may imply he's struggling to keep himself steady, he has so much freedom its causing him to slip and slide around with little control.

2. "Say Hello to Gordon If You See Him" - Is this a joke? A literal request? I believe Jeffries is aware of the nature of time and is working with time, so surely he would know the risks Cooper poses/faces? That what happened was a possibility? So was he taking the mickey as if to say "Say hello to X for me" knowing it was unlikely? Was Cole supposed to be at the curtain, in Texas, or in Twin Peaks? Is this an FBI kinship thing, he misses his buddy? I'm assuming each piece of dialogue is a clue to a larger picture...

3."He'll remember the unofficial version - Is this a hint towards Cooper actually retconning the past? Is he hoping for it to happen? That there is an official and unofficial version of events (or Jeffries) and that Cole will only be aware of one version? I could use some imagination for this one.

5. "There maybe someone... did you ask me this"- I'm not sure what to make of this. I think he could be talking to Mike telepathically (look at Mike's expressions during the entire scene) and we'll never know the nature of the conversation. Phillip could also be talking in broken sentences about Mr. C's visit, but I believe Jeffries knew it wasn't Cooper initially, and is the one who set the trap for him with fake co-ordinates. Therefore he wouldn't be confused and saying "There maybe someone else, another Cooper, Did you ask me about Judy?" Also, Jeffries has direct access to time, he would know about the tale of the two Coopers, why would there be reason to ask/tell Cooper about things they are both already fully aware of? I'd like to hear someone else's thoughts about this, I can't think about it clearly.

6. "Cooper remember...." I think that the Jeffries scene was Cooper being sent into DougieCoop. They way that Cooper detached from the scene and almost looked like he was in a coma. Mike shouts electricity. I don't think Cooper is physical in the Convenience Store scenes with Jeffries, its his consciousness wavering outside of his physical body. When Cooper enters the woods, he appears the same way that he vanishes from the Giants message at the very beginning. I don't think we're seeing scenes in the correct order, and in this sense I'm having trouble connecting the timeline as to when Cooper gets from one place to another. When Cooper emerges from the dark and is greeted by Mike, its when his true consciousness is being sent back through into his body during episode 16. The reason Cooper asks Phillip Jeffries to take him to February 3rd 1989 is because Cooper, Cole, and Briggs have their plan, Cooper is to land in Dougie, get to Twin Peaks, defeat Mr C and defeat BoB, and then will travel through the doorway into February 3rd 1989. (remember how its the same place James was investigating a few episodes back), but the Fireman gave Cooper a quick talking to on his way through, to provide essential information for Cooper's success, and then himself transported Coop into the woods of TP.

N.B.

This thread started off as a joke and then I put a bit of effort in. Oops.

On the fifth point ("did you ask me this?"), it just occurred to me that perhaps refers to Cooper having already done this before, or maybe even asking an unknown question at the same time in a different timeline, as if he was going to answer something that wasn't actually being asked, but which Jeffries was for some reason hearing. But just focusing on the first idea, Jeffries asking if Cooper asked him something could mean that Cooper has been down this road before, has already asked Jeffries to go back in time, is repeating this over and over again, and Jeffries is feeling too slippery in time to keep track, or is having flashes of other times he's seen Cooper in different timelines or previous instances.

After re watching 17 and 18 last night, I couldn't help but shake the idea that the "ancient entity" Judy is in fact Laura.

When Jeffries says to Mr C "you've already met Judy", he could be referring to Coop/Richard finding Carrie Paige - something that may have yet played out in the current timeline as we are watching, but due to Jeffries not being grounded with time would make sense that he would say that.

Laura may have therefore wispered to Coop "I am Judy." Judy may not be evil. The fireman created Laura (and thus she is an entity of sorts).

Just one idea out of many possible ideas that are just conjecture :/

The holes in this is obviously the experiment, which may (or may not) be Judy.

A fourth season would be handy 😀

Reasons why I think Laura could potentially be Judy:

"The horse is the white of the eyes and dark within". The horse is symbolic of Laura, and this is a kind of pointer.

"Sometimes my arms bend back" - experiment (Judy?) has freaky bendy back arms.

Cooper seems very shocked and disappointed at whatever Laura whispers on his ear. "I was Judy all along" would give him plenty of reason to be shocked. The person he thought he was saving turned out to be the apparent root of all evil. Shucks.

"You've already met Judy" - Cooper has met Laura in the red room multiple times, and he met Carrie Paige (Jeffries can't disrciminate by time) .

Maybe Laura isn't Judy precisely but maybe inhabited by her.

I'm sure this theory has been discussed countless times by other people.

I feel more strongly about this particular idea than I do with the theory that Sarah is possessed by Judy.

when Mr. C was asking, "who is Judy?  Who is Judy?", it almost seems likely that the answer would be 'Person X', as opposed to: 'it's this horned thing that lives outside of time and space and is humanish shaped and likely female but with arms swapped at the elbows...'

I'm just saying,  the way he asked it seems to imply he thinks it would be a person.
