And a nonsensical SomethingVague. A few things left unresolved by Phillip the Teapot. Some suggestions.I'd love your input on any and all of them! Point 6 is the most interesting...

1. "It's slippery in here" - Is he talking about physically inside his Kettle?I think Phillip Jeffries has a close connection to time. His character shuffles around in time in FWWM. He seemingly sends Cooper off to 1989. All conversations about Jeffries involve a mention of time, or time passing (I think). I think  "here" means "the web of time"... but not a web, cause they're not slippery ;). Slippery may imply he's struggling to keep himself steady, he has so much freedom its causing him to slip and slide around with little control.

2. "Say Hello to Gordon If You See Him" - Is this a joke? A literal request? I believe Jeffries is aware of the nature of time and is working with time, so surely he would know the risks Cooper poses/faces? That what happened was a possibility? So was he taking the mickey as if to say "Say hello to X for me" knowing it was unlikely? Was Cole supposed to be at the curtain, in Texas, or in Twin Peaks? Is this an FBI kinship thing, he misses his buddy? I'm assuming each piece of dialogue is a clue to a larger picture...

3."He'll remember the unofficial version - Is this a hint towards Cooper actually retconning the past? Is he hoping for it to happen? That there is an official and unofficial version of events (or Jeffries) and that Cole will only be aware of one version? I could use some imagination for this one.

4. "This is where you'll find Judy" -  Is Jeffries again, intentionally being vague/joking with the conversation? Does Cooper literally find Judy in the end episode 17 or within episode 18? Or is it a coded phrase telling Cooper that Judy is an infinite evil that cannot be found as it is not a physical entity, and only manifests itself in the form of beings like the Experiment? and BoB? But that evil is a very real supernatural force, not one which exists purely as a category of action?

5. "There maybe someone... did you ask me this"- I'm not sure what to make of this. I think he could be talking to Mike telepathically (look at Mike's expressions during the entire scene) and we'll never know the nature of the conversation. Phillip could also be talking in broken sentences about Mr. C's visit, but I believe Jeffries knew it wasn't Cooper initially, and is the one who set the trap for him with fake co-ordinates. Therefore he wouldn't be confused and saying "There maybe someone else, another Cooper, Did you ask me about Judy?" Also, Jeffries has direct access to time, he would know about the tale of the two Coopers, why would there be reason to ask/tell Cooper about things they are both already fully aware of? I'd like to hear someone else's thoughts about this, I can't think about it clearly.

6. "Cooper remember...." I think that the Jeffries scene was Cooper being sent into DougieCoop. They way that Cooper detached from the scene and almost looked like he was in a coma. Mike shouts electricity. I don't think Cooper is physical in the Convenience Store scenes with Jeffries, its his consciousness wavering outside of his physical body. When Cooper enters the woods, he appears the same way that he vanishes from the Giants message at the very beginning. I don't think we're seeing scenes in the correct order, and in this sense I'm having trouble connecting the timeline as to when Cooper gets from one place to another. When Cooper emerges from the dark and is greeted by Mike, its when his true consciousness is being sent back through into his body during episode 16. The reason Cooper asks Phillip Jeffries to take him to February 3rd 1989 is because Cooper, Cole, and Briggs have their plan, Cooper is to land in Dougie, get to Twin Peaks, defeat Mr C and defeat BoB, and then will travel through the doorway into February 3rd 1989. (remember how its the same place James was investigating a few episodes back), but the Fireman gave Cooper a quick talking to on his way through, to provide essential information for Cooper's success, and then himself transported Coop into the woods of TP.

N.B.

This thread started off as a joke and then I put a bit of effort in. Oops.

Joke away if this is the result. Great questions and thoughts.  Sadly, I can offer no answers. 🙁

1 - time is slippery.
2 - I take that as literal, Phillip is stuck there forever. Coop isn't (yet).
3 - yeah, official and unofficial timelines.
4 - Judy is still at Sarah's house. This I've learned elsewhere online - the kettle steams out the number of Sarah's house (708?)

I'm less sure about the last two. This is a great theory which suggests Dale is basically doomed to be the new Jefferies:

All good and strange questions of the kettle (or is Jeffries the fish in the percolator)? There is probably a lot more we should understand about this whole interaction. Maybe the answers are there or at least the clues or at least something worth paying attention.

For being intended as a joke, you sure did raise some interesting bits.

I wasn't sure if Jeffries' comments were relevant or he had just taken on the persona of sleepy dormouse...

Perhaps this is the fate all the disappeared have to face.

The joke started as to make fun of the vagueness, and as I was typing the conversation pieces out more things linked together. I appreciate the interest. I love Lynch and Frost' abilities to make infinitely pleasing mind-boggling puzzles hidden within media. It's genius.

This is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever read. Yet it would coherently tie up the fate of Jeffries (as referenced even by Cole) and explain the true purpose of the Blue Rose, as well as address the grim reality of episode 17 and 18. Need to think on this for a while and see if it checks out.

Or the stoned caterpillar in Alice.

Yep I really think at least part of it is true. It ties in too with the infinite symbol, "is it future or is it past?" and other potential loops we've seen (Sarah).

I want to rewatch it but I'm going to go back to episode 1 first. I've been rewatching The X-Files recently, tried doing that today and it was just ruined by thoughts of Twin Peaks. Mondays will never be the same again.

He may have one in there, for all we know.  Don't remember Coop having X Ray specs on at the time. 😉

I'm sure one can be found.

If nothing else, I bet Jerry has something toadstool shaped and fits in a hukkah.

What if Mike feeds on trapping people in the lodge for an infinite amount of time? Instead of killing and raping like Bob, he's getting his kicks outta imprisonment? The look on his face when he greets Cooper... the horror he experiences when Jeffries is actually helping him potentially succeed... an infinite attempts to fix time and Cooper becomes something weird we've seen out the corner of our eye.

Could the repeat of the Laura being guided through woods be two separate occasions Cooper attempting to save Laura before giving up on that avenue before his infinite battle with time?
