In the last scene, just before Cooper begins to walk and asks what year is this, you can hear the same sound when Laura disappears in the forest, but a shorter version, and quite faint (put your speaker up), or maybe it's an electricity sound, I'm not sure.
And then when we see Carrie's face, you can hear it again !
I guess it means something, but if it's the white lodge sound or electricity, it won't mean the same thing.
Like they realize something, or something / someone make them realize I don't know.
It seems like an hidden thing, an hidden clue, but well it doesn't help much 🙂

If sounds are happening yet Cooper isn't there to hear them...do I need to go on with this parable? This is where the dreamer of the dream gets really backwards with me. If you look at season 3 closely there is really no one who is in the right place to dream everything that happened. In my opinion, only god or a higher power could have been everywhere at once.
Trying to ascribe omnipotence to a TP character is a flawed understanding of the finale.
As I have recently discovered, all of the new season is FUBAR because Cooper went back in time to 1989 and caused a butterfly effect from that point on. This means that every episode AFTER 1989 is now fucked up in some fashion.
It's genius if you think about it, but what do I know?

Yes I'd like to have another point of view about the sounds. It's really faint so it's like it's hidden. But hearing it again it feels a little bit different from the Fireman sound, more like electricity so I dunno.

Well I don't know, I like this idea I read somewhere that Laura's dead body echoes Laura (or Carrie) sleeping and dreaming all of this, I think that's a beautiful idea, maybe in the real life she feels like dead and she creates a white knight to try to save her in a complicated scenario, but in the end she just has to wake up, and well when we have nightmares we often wake up with heartbeats and maybe not a scream but with sound. I know Twin peaks is not only about that (and I like the meta "we're all dreamers of the show", and that the characters had their own life in a way during 25 years, Lynch and Frost sometimes wondered what they had become like old friends) but I guess it's mostly about "the one" and coping with the incest and hiding it from reality. I'm not a fan with theories going to deep with parallels universes and such, because in the end the overall meaning has to talk about human experience, like every Lynch's work, and the rest comes after this I think. But I'm not sure then how to fit FWWM, not sure I could include the movie as in a dream so...
But I think with the ambiguity of the ending, even with that theory, if they wanted they could go with a fourth season since it doesn't really contradict other endings. But I think they first planned it as a real ending.
