First I think most theories are self indulgent fan-fiction, so I will attempt to limit this to analysis and hypothesis.

So, to start, what is the relationship between Jeffries, Cooper, and The  Jumping Man?

The only times (I can recall) seeing The Jumping Man is during/prior to a face to face interaction between Jeffries and Coop: FWWM, Ep 15, & Ep 17.  And only in relation to above the convenience store.
(Speaking of Ep 15, note the number on the door to Jeffries,8)

There is also a degree of animosity on Jeffries part toward either Coop (to be fair, I'd be pissed off at anyone if I lived in a tea kettle), including wanting him killed, back to the initial encounter in FWWM

This initial encounter (shown throughout TPTR), opens the possibility that Coop could be more than we always thought. . . .

On to Ep 17,/18, I am more and more convinced that the plan in Ep 17 by Briggs,Cole and Coop was derailed by Coops disappearance, and but was updated by The Giant/Fireman &Briggs by getting  Doople Coop to the Sherif Station with Coop and Freddy, so they could could "defeat” him and Bob, allowing Coop could go back and to get Laura, and get her “home”

Which seems pretty reasonable, then the clock starts jumping backwards, and Coop, Diane, and Cole appear in a basement like hallway, which could logically only be in the Sherifs station, where Coop enters and goes to the convince store. . .

When we see Jumping Man in a similar, yet longer, and more intense shot than Ep 15, with loud electrical sounds running down the same stairs Coop and Gerrard went up.

Well after we picked up the beer we just spilled. . , Coop speaks to Jeffries, who sends him back ("electronically ") to complete the plan, . . . That failed

So the only "people" around when Coop was sent back is Coop, Gerrard, Jeffries, and The Jumping Man. . . As it's all but safe to rule out Gerrard, Jeffries and/or The Jumping Man are the obvious places to start looking as to why Laura vanished and Coop returned back in the Waiting Room

How exactly? Well that's will certainly lead to fan fiction. Why? (IE trapping Coop so Jeffries can get out, maybe The Jumping Man needs Laura) will also do the same.  But the circumstances, motives, and everything else point to being the plan to get Laura, was ambushed by Jeffries/ and/or the Jumping Man

Lynch is know to leave traps and fake clues, but among them, he mixes real ones.  I'm not saying this "is" what Lynch meant, but it's a place worth starting

I have the very same respect for you theories as you have for my self-indulgent fan fiction.

Not the best way to start a conversation.  🙂

Indeed, you kinda skip the rest after the first sentence. LIke "I'm so not like you but I do the same, how can I justify that?" 🙂

Fair enough, but I believe you both know I'm referring to when people injections more of their own ideas then what's there and present it as ominopotent truth, and not citing objective facts to be noticed

So, there really isn't a "theory", but an investigation into facts that have been presented

Probably, although the notion of objective facts is as unclear to me as that of spoilers when it comes to The Return.

Hey, everybody gets to have their opinion, especially with something this abstract. Facts seem very irrelevant, if they are indeed even facts. There is a whole lot of filling in the blanks and interpreting one's own experience.  It's a coping mechanism.  And it's also fun. It gives us something to play with while we lick our wounds.

I missed the part where Jeffries wants Cooper killed.

Not even sure what precisely you are referring. Elaborate?

What we know is someone going by Phil Jefferies  on a phone/phone-like device asked/ordered Ray to kill Cooper.

We also know Cooper spoke with someone on a "phone like device" (probably because Coop couldn't find anything else to hook up to a crappy Surface Pro/Win 10 tablet)  by the name Phillip Jeffries, who ironically sounds a lot like Trent Renzor (you the guy in that 90s band Nine Inch Nails that did that "Closer" song) who was quite  anxious for Coop to "go back tomorrow"

So was that Phillip on the "phones", or someone else?

Yes we know SOMEONE put a hit of Mr. C. We don't know that it was Jeffries.  I highly doubt it was Jeffries.  And we don't know that he was after anybody but BadDoppelCooper/Mr. C. I don't think Jeffries had any intention or desire to kill SA Dale Cooper.

I think Jeffries/Teapot is trying to get Cooper into the Black Lodge, in fact he is trying to get Cooper transformed into a Tea Cup. Right now Jeffries has been brewing the same pot for about 25 years and the brew is getting pretty strong, he just needs/wants a cup so he can enjoy a cuppa.

Which has nothing to the topic, only another  lame and transparent attempt to try and discredit me for hurting your feelings by calling out your "coping mechanism" for not being able to understand David Lynch

Look, I don't have any horses in this here thing.  I have to say I thought the final analysis was that it was only speculated that Jeffries was the one ordering the hit via phone, not confirmed.

A small point.

Correct!!!  Which is part of my point.

In connection of Coop and Jeffries, there is one constant.

Who could then know enough about either to make calls and contact to people who knew both Coop and Jefferiea?  Just  Jefferies, The Jumping Man, or both?
