I know, it's a tough pill to swallow.
Season 3 is Good Coop's dream in the Black Lodge. Laura whispers to him that what he just experienced was only a dream. He's been doing this for the last 25 years.

Certainly possible, though not definitive. Your position is supported by The Arm saying "Is this the story of the little girl..." b/c it appears Audrey too is trapped in a bad lodge dreamworld.
