What bothered me this season is the realization that film is way more beautiful than digital.

I find it quite striking during the scenes from FWWM with Laura and James out in the woods and Cooper hiding behind a tree.

When Laura might have been spotted Cooper out there, the image quality of The Return looks actually "cheap" compared to the beauty of FWWM shot on film.

It never bothered me during INLAND EMPIRE, because it's its own world, but I find that Twin Peaks on digital is not such a good idea. Something is lost.

Even the Red Room looked cheap.

I was waiting for someone to point this ! I totally agree with you and though I got used to it by the end of the season 3 I had this feeling while watching ep17. I wrote about it on my blog.

The scene with the mother and the boy you descripe in the blog gave me goosebumps... Definitely one of the most emotional scenes in season 3

I think DV could have been used for the Dougie Jones story and Film for the Cooper one. That would have made sense.
