now this is the best theory so far, as many others mentioned the sex scene could be the rape scene the tulpa diane was talking about. wouldnt it be like rape to her?
At first I thought I was just having some wishful thinking, but the more I look at the evidence, the more I think I might be right. What's interesting is that we know the manufactured Diane realized that she was manufactured right before Albert shoots her. When Diane is in the car in episode 18 she sees another Diane working. I think we can assume at least one of them is real, so is it possible that the manufactured Diane realized she was manufactured again, that's why she leaves the note signing it Linda.
Hmm, this theory makes sense to me.
I felt that there was something off about Coop in Episode 18.
Cooper is aware of the impossibility of saving Laura. Maybe it's possible to save Laura in the world of Twin Peaks, but as we saw with the infinity symbol that Philip shows Cooper, reality will just splinter and there will be another reality where the dark forces win by killing Laura. The giant warned Cooper in the first episode, remember Richard and Linda, two birds with one stone. Could Richard be the Tulpa he created with the seed? Cooper knew if you tried to save Laura that it would shatter reality, so is it possible that our real cooper was the one who walked through the red door in Lancelot Court, and by creating Richard, he killed two birds with one stone. It's basically exactly what bad coop did, create a tulpa to take his place and the time comes to be sucked back into the real world of the Black Lodge. It's possible that our beloved Cooper is finally able to take a retirement, enjoy a happy loving life with the family, and his tulpa is the one burdened to fight the Black Lodge for eternity. Richard reminds me a lot of a tulpa. Dougie was made from bad Cooper, and he had a lot of bad qualities, but he wasn't an evil person. If Richard was made from good Cooper, he would have a lot of good qualities, but he wouldn't be entirely good…
You, sir, have allowed for some of us to get some sleep tonight.
This would also explain why the Coop that comes out of the Lodge to meet Diane, if he was Mr. C., was able to open the curtain without touching it, with a magical little wave of his hand. It also lends explanation to the gross and uncomfortable sex scene with "Linda" and Coop, and the strange way that Coop was waving the gun around at everyone in Judy's diner (a real trained agent would never do such a thing!).
Amazing theory and it really seems to be correct!
Excellent work!
Not sure it's how it is, but I really like it!
I had a similar feeling(/wish) that dougie#2 was the real coop, but dismissed it after he said 'home' in a dougie-esque way. I hadn't been able to flesh out out to see if it fits in the way you have...and you've done very well! I am about to sit and re-watch 17&18, and with this theory in mind to see if there is anything to add...
The pin badge has good implications in trying to cement a timeline down I think, as I'm still sure that understanding the timeline will give some further insight....it's a big project for the whole season re-watch!
One thing that doesn't sit well with me is the accent that the Tulpa has when he is brought to life by Mike. He sounds exactly like Dougie did before he was summoned back to the lodge. He acts like Dougie. The Cooper we see in episode 18 sounds like a mix between GoodCoop and Mr. C. The more I watch the new Tulpa and the more I think about all the Coops, it would seem silly that they would have this Tulpa creation scene include a Tulpa with all the characteristics of Dougie, to then throw that out the window in the next scenes. It would mean a complete disregard of logic and consistency just for the sake of throwing a cool curve-ball - something which Lynch avoids. He is always consistent, yet mysterious. When we make sense of something, it makes sense. After thinking on it further, this doesn't seem to make sense. I hope some of you can win be back though!
I like this interpretation. Last week, I predicted that it would be left to our interpretation whether the Tulpa or the real Coop went to live with Janey-E. Of course, I got nearly everything else wrong and didn't see a finale like this coming in a million years, but I'll take as a win 🙂

This is a better, and easier to follow, summary of my "another possibility" thread early this morning. Thank you for expanding my theory so others could properly understand it!
I am pretty sure Coop's badge is white the first time we see it in part 18 and it ends to be black and white by the second part of the episode!

Yep I noticed that.
I don't really deserve any credit. Others in this thread mused about this possibility.
I love this theory, the only hole in it is that if the seed cooper aka Richard, messed up reality, the cooper prime's reality would have also gotten messed up and changed.
I agree, Coop returned to Janey-E & Sonny Jim! Beautiful.
