A friend of mine just brought up an incredible theory that I haven't seen anywhere on here so I'm going to belatedly posit to the forum and see what people think.
It involves The Secret History tying into the final two episodes.
the sex magical ritual performed by jack parsons and aleister crowley in 1946 which they do to try and conjur the mother of all evil to produce the anti-Christ. And jacks future bride Marjorie Cameron shows up- anyway they make Diane look like Marjorie Cameron in the show and they have to perform this sex magic ritual in the motel to shift the reality so cooper can get to Laura and weaken Judy (?)
Sure but I have a question. How this sex ritual works ? Because there is time travel. When we see Jeffries that he use this kettle machine, he set something there to go to right dimension. And here in motel we have sex and what ? When someone set anything to jump into the right time dimension ? It is really funny, Coop could wake up in year 1500 or 2500, why not ?...

I agree that this is what they were after in the last episode. Diane and Cooper travel into the 1960s when they cross over into the other dimension that the Fireman as created to hide Laura. They then have to perform sex to reach the point where Laura is in this dimension in the future and draw Judy into this dimension. Once they have drawn Judy out in this dimension through the sex they can find Laura in this dimension and destroy Judy. The stone to do this is Carrie Page/Laura through recognising who she is at the end. Thus saving Laura and killing Judy.

So many comments and questions and none even slightly appropriate..........
Time travel and Sex magick are two different things in the world of twin peaks. Jeffries knows the map of portals and therefore helps Coop to get where he needs to be. But once in the right setting Jeffries cannot attract Judy. A ritual is needed as powerful as the one carried out by Jack Parsons during the trinity test. Once the ritual is carried out in the right circumstances (one of those seems to be that the woman has to have red hair ) then the portal is open and Evil is welcomed. In that way Judy enters that reality and that is why everything changes. This is a pocketworld, a "fake" world where Laura is hiding, Judy has arrived called by the ritual and Coop is Richard. This is the only reality where all of them can meet and fight.....and eventually all get destroyed in the fight.

Did their little session summon the mother or experiment, or whatever that was? Or was it just crappy timing on their part? It seems if it was a setup, things were setup before that with the security guard suddenly being gone.

I think Sam was meant to be watching for Coop to appear. And experiment was drawn there. I think Mr C is the millionaire.
But why were the guards told to stand down????

I think their sex summoned her in. There's hints at foul play with the guard disappeared, yes, But most uncanny is the sex triggering the experiment being one of three instances where sex is used to summon evil.
