Who Called Mr. C Looking To Take Bob?

We know that someone talked with Mr. C back in that hotel room where he killed Darya 5 days ago and this person threatened him with his forced return to the black lodge.  Mr. C at first thought it was Phillip Jeffries, but then was not sure.  Later we heard that someone calling themselves Phillip Jeffries called Albert previously and got him to reveal classified information about agents working in Columbia, leading to the death of those agents. Finally we thought that Ray was working with Phillip Jeffries who wanted something Mr. C has(Bob).  Ray thought he was dealing with Jeffries , since the man calling him claimed to be Phillip Jeffries, but this easily could be a trick to hide the real identity and pin the 'hit' on Jeffries.  Also, Ray never met with the man calling him and never confirmed if it was Jeffries or not calling him.  Now that Mr. C has met with Jeffries, Jeffries himself sounded as if he was ignorant about the entire situation, as if he had no idea what Mr. C was talking about or if he was even really Cooper, and generally did not seem bothered at all by Mr. C's presence and began revealing everything he knew about Judy; and this is not behavior you would expect from Jeffries if he was against Mr. C and plotting for his death.

If Jeffries is telling the truth and had nothing to do with those phone calls, then who is looking to take Bob out of Mr. C to use for himself?  Once Agent Cooper proper returns, which character will take over Bob, who will Bob inhabit?

What if Mike (Phillip Gerard) is acting as Jeffries in an attempt to manipulate the events unfolding. Mike isn't thrilled with Bob running amok so it makes sense that he wants Bob back in the Lodge.

It may not be about a new or old host for Bob at all.

It could be that, but the way I have Mike pinned is that in the end he sides with Bob, getting people to take the ring(Laura here), then takes garmanbozia from Bob after their death.  Mike wants to stop Bob, while Bob wants to continue running around killing, but during all of this, Mike's detached arm is meeting with Bob above the convenience store(making Mike more ineffective and hesitant, and going back to his old self without that drug mixture), and since he does not control his detached arm, the arm ends up overwhelming Mike at the end and makes him deal with Bob and respect their agreement made during the meeting(with woodsmen present) above the convenience store.

Also, if Mike does have him trapped for a while, Bob would still be looking to get out at the first sign of a host, and there are plenty of them in the 'world full of truck drivers'...........

The Arm sides with Bob, of course, but there is a reason Mike cut off his arm. I don't think he sides with Bob (but is less powerful so concedes). He gave Laura the ring so that she would die and Bob wouldn't be capable of possessing her, IMO. He may have inferred that she was tired of resisting and might have let him inside her eventually. The situation has changed now, however, since Laura said, "I am dead yet I live."

This all leads me to ask: who forcibly removed Laura from the Red Room and why? Perhaps Bob is searching for Laura.

Mike may want to annihilate Bob and is working with the Fireman in order to do so.

I do not think that the ring is a defense to those who wear it, nor does it simply allow someone to die, but rather die in a certain way, the death of their dreams.  Rather it is a sign of a sort of affirmation about the world, the 'way things are', how people will then approach the world in accordance with the destruction of their dreams, as if they were just a joke, not real because of some evil committed against them(ex. Agent Cooper laughing at his old dreams by saying Annie, Annie, Annie..); for instance Mike's arm tells Bob that he 'fell a victim' above the convenience store, then tells him that he is wedded to this 'victimization' about his dreams, presents the ring and says 'with this ring, I thee wed', this is Mike convincing Bob that this is the way of the world since he 'fell a victim', Mike basically agrees with this, but tries to hide from it, ends up falling back into it since he still affirms the world as rotten, dreams dead, etc. When Mr. C 'ended Ray's story', he made him take the ring, wedded him to it; same thing happened to Laura since she started the 'fire that cannot be put out, in Canada', had given up on her dreams and accepted the world as rotten and her dreams as dead, she decided to die and give up. Also after Agent Chet Desmond saw the ring, he noticed the 'lets rock' on the car and disappeared like Jeffries and Cooper before him.

The arm is a part of Mike(albeit a disavowed one) and takes control of him, becomes reunited with him, at which point Mike concedes to Bob, that this is the 'way of things', as shown in this scene of FWWM when Mike is fully conscious and allows his arm to reunite with him so that he can take garmanbozia from Bob:

Are we to assume that the Jeffries tank thing was actually Jeffries's doppelganger, or the real Jeffries?

Maybe one of the other placed the call. It's possible we saw the real Jeffries imprisoned, and the doppelganger is the one making the calls.

I'm in board with most of this, Murat. Who do you think is after Bob?

Great point and nice symmetry with Coop/Mr C.

I am not sure, but we know that Agent Cooper proper will be coming back, which means Bob will have to leave from Mr. C....where will Bob go, since I think that Twin Peaks is meant to continue even if not shown on television, as it did for 25 years in between?  Right now I am suspecting that where Bob goes is a possible twist/cliffhanger on the ending of the show.....could be lots of possible suspects for agent cooper to pursue once he completes 'the return'....

My (somewhat) wild guess right now would be James, maybe Bobby, both are headed for possible trouble with 'blue rose import'....could be Richard even....

 Appreciate your honesty.

That would be amazing if Bob inhabits James or Bobby (especially now). There'd be many wtfs for years to come.

Given that the plot is continuing to diverge and we have only 3 episodes left, I think absolute befuddlement at the end is now a given.

That's the impression I got from Jeffries voice coming from inside the metal bell/teapot.  He was kept inside a locked room in that bell like a prison.

Albert

If it is Albert, he's got us all fooled.  This could be true though.  He was pissed off that he got tricked into providing information that resulted in an agent's death.

Mike is a good guess, assuming he's into telephone calls.  But this suddenly feels military.
