Why is the convenient store called the Dutchman's? Any connection to Van Kirk aka " The Dutch", the last living soldier from the aircraft that bombarded hiroshima?

The Dutchman's could be the convenience store, or the second floor, or the specific dimension in which Jeffries currently resides. It's not clear. But, I like the connection that you've drawn. Lots of WWII references throughout especially in the Secret History.

Feels very plausible. I didn't know this. Cool.

My first gut reaction to "Dutchman's" was the Flying Dutchman fable about a captain who commands a ghost ship and the sight of this phantom ship is a sign of doom.  Maybe Jeffries is the Flying Dutchman who commands the convenience store???

Interesting but i dont think Jeffries is running the place. Mr C asked for him the way we ask an info desk clerk for the appropriate department.

Could also be that he (his soul)  is a prisoner of the woodsmen considering his teapot situation.

Yeah, that makes more sense.  Plus, the woman had to unlock the door to let Coop in.

Another thing that has come to my mind is the wallpaper on the wall. The floral pattern is often called  a "Dutch Painter" wallpaper. E.g.:  https://www.pipstudio.com/global/en/dutch-painters-behang-bordeaux

This is a tenuous, for sure, but I connected this with the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine legend.  When I read the Secret History of Twin Peaks, the part about the two guys with the old map looking for gold and encountering powerful native stuff reminded me a lot of that legend.  It's pretty clear in the Secret History that the guys are exploring in Owl's Cave, but the premise of it is a lot like those mysterious and alluring lost gold stories, of which the Dutchman's Gold is probably the most famous of all.  And anyway, when I heard 'Dutchman's' in last episode it reminded of those old woodsman types who would have been part of the oral tradition of those lost treasure legends.

That is the same wallpaper (and presumingly the same room) that was in the painting on Laura Palmer's room wall.

You are right, there must be a connection. How do u connect that story with the paranormal/Bob/Jeffries/activity? Never read the book, only browsed it (didn't win my heart).
