Yes, indeed. David Lynch is a huge fan of Sunset Boulevard.
Wasn't the coffee, cherry pie, triggering the cobra-like reflexes, "quality time" with Janey-E, the red shoes, the flag, the badges, etc.
Nope, it was hearing Cole's name.
Was Cole that important to Cooper? Narcissistic on Lynch's part? A clue as to who IS the dreamer?
In several sources back in 1989-1992 we understood that Lynch (born Missoula Montana) considers Kyle MacLachlan (born Yakima Washington State) to be his alter ego. So yes, this is a crucial connection.
Coop was also eating (not cherry pie but appreciation of taste etc is an important part of the 'real' Dale Cooper) and he was also playing with the salt and pepper pots in a way that was clearly meaningful and not the normal DougieCoop mindless reaction. So it looks like a combination of things then led to him seeing the power outlet and then spurred him to put the fork in.
Of course there's no guarantee yet that any of this has actually brought Coop out of his Dougie state at all...

When I first saw those salt & pepper shakers, I thought they were shaped like mountains. Then he brought one closer to the other (Twin Peaks) and heard Gordon's name. Voila - put a fork in it!
for what it's worth i think the scene from sunset blvd slowly drew him into a state of readiness where the name gordon cole served as an electric shock of epiphany. we see on the screen 3 male figures (the director de mille, the actor, and another man in the background of the doorway) and 1 woman (norma)--the dialogue is full of nostalgia & hope about "getting the old team back together again". the allusion to "the old team" would surely remind him subconsciously of his old team in the fbi, which consisted of 3 men & 1 woman (himself, albert, gordon cole, and diane).

I'd not drawn that inference from the scene but you are right. It was a combination of things
I also think he was playing with the salt and pepper, put them together to make 'Twin Peaks' but then moved them apart again, when it would have been another missed opportunity. But then the Sunset Boulevard scene caught his eye and kept the momentum going.
I also think Kyle's acting in that one scene is award-worthy, you could see the awareness come into his eyes. Amazing
I see it more as that being the last piece of the puzzle. He had all the other pieces like cherry pie, seeing guns and badges, drinking coffee and the one that triggered the change has the last one Cole's name.
I'm still expecting him to not fully be there but i am very sure we will get a different Coop in ep.16
