Oh!  I'd forgotten about that!  And the young woman at the bar-- Tina's daughter-- alluded twice to an uncle.  She couldn't remember if her uncle had been there when Billy pole vaulted across the 6 foot wall, bleeding from the nose and mouth.

I just don't see how a comatose Audrey could know about that, unless she were clairvoyant, which is always a possibility.

But back to the Uncle tie-in.  I think it's too strong to be ignored.

I guess I don't follow?

The sick girl in the car had an uncle.

Tina's daughter maybe has an uncle?

I have an uncle. LOL

A lot of people have uncles.

How is that a connection? Asking sincerely. Did I miss something?

And Bob's your uncle...
NB: I never really understood that expression. Doesn't translate.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo b's_your_uncle

Robert is your father's brother.

Or,

Robert is your mom's new boyfriend.

I'll get me coat.

I've been thinking of this too. Wanted to write something but first Googled it and came here and saw that most of my thoughts have already been thought.

But who is the thinker?...

Bob's your uncle is really something that is very interesting to think about.

It's been suggested that the mimicking prisoner in the cell with Naido and Chad might be Billy because blood is pouring out of his mouth and Tina's daughter's Uncle may have been present when Billy jumped a 6 foot fence and ran into their house to bleed on their sink. The girl in the car of the incessently honking woman in front of the Double R who had to get home to see her uncle was also bleeding like that.

Gordon Cole: She's here visiting a friend of her mother whose daughter has gone missing.
A little bit uncle-y

Finally, I was convinced that Leland once said that he first met a Mr. Robertson when visiting his Uncle. I double checked and was wrong - he was visiting his Grandfather whose neighbor was Robertson. Damn!

The lack of clear memory makes me think it is lodge/portal related, no one seems to have a clear memory of lodge/portal related beings or events.

Thank you for stating that, as it's loosened an idea in my head....

Since both Cole and Albert seemed not to remember (without the help of Cole's dream) the run-in with Phillip Jeffries from FWWM, do we now think that that wasn't really Phillip Jeffries, but his doppelganger?

I think it was probably the real Jeffries because a Doppelganger wouldn't bother trying to report to his superiors and colleagues in the FBI.
But this question brings up another one I have. If a good guy's doppelganger is evil, would a bad guy's doppelganger be good? Or is a doppelganger always the evil/sociopathic side of a person?

Uncle Leland perhaps?

I talked about this scenario - the possible connection between the convo at the Roadhouse & the Honking Woman both mentioning "uncle" - in our latest podcast & how it possibly relates to Audrey.

If that really is "Billy" in the cell next to Naido then his character is possibly significant since, I suspect, something or someone is coming for Naido.

I don't know why, but the first thing I thought when watching this scene was that the uncle was Charlie.

Just a feeling. Nothing to back that up.

Guys, how can a comatose be ageing in her dreams if she hasn't waken up for 25 years?

And who leaves a dear someone this much time in a coma anyway?

Some people are "certain" she's STILL in a coma, just like some people were certain Laura Dern would NOT be playing Diane.

Regarding the Billy conversation, doesn't Tina's daughter say that Billy ran in and out of the kitchen? It reminded me of Bing running in and out of the Double R asking for the said Billy. Then I thought maybe the diner is the dream! Or maybe Billy is Bing's dopple? Probably over thinking but I am so into this masterpiece!

Perhaps it is all the bingwatching of My Three Sons that got your wheels turning.

One's uncle is their mother's brother, correct? My latest musing is that as some sort of cosmic, Lodge-level sibling to the "bad" Mother, the giant/???????/Fireman is the uncle.

The uncle is disappearing when Billy runs into that house, like Jeffries in that FWWM scene in the 'old Philadelphia offices', the 'blue rose' version/'real dream' being shot by himself(Judy, dont talk about Judy, etc.) after some tragedy against him by some other(the world, etc.); like Cole, they were not sure if Jeffries really appeared there or not.  The conjured 'real dream' being killed for the tyranny of existence that kills 'dreams', the slow decay of the tyranny of nature's vortex killing people and their thoughts/dreams.  Factual existence without thinking/true-dreams(shooting the blue rose) is a blind barbarism, Mr. C and Dougie, the split person who merely exists in blind rage/impotence, like a wild animal.

The poor girl(where did you lift that sweater, could not have bought it, etc.) who takes drugs in her room is like Naido, the girl from 'darkened room' who is crippled by the 'mother', told her watch/sweater 'doesnt tell time', 'is not hers', etc., that Billy doesnt really like here etc., goes back to her room to take drugs.  The girl making fun of the poor girl is playing the role of mother, or Tina, then switches to being crushed/going wild-west when finds out Billy is cheating, like Audrey.  Seems like Tina, the poor girls mother, disposed of the husband's dreams first, then the uncles(much like how big Ed's dreams are crushed, then his reflection/shadow begins to fluctuate, he burns his dreams, shoots the 'blue rose' version of himself).  Tina kills these dreams in favor of wild west and Billy, and traps the poor girl in her room, much like how Shelly killed Bobby's dreams to go with the wild drug dealer Red and is making sure Becky's dreams follow her 'motherly' advice.  The crazy mother(Shelly) with the zombie girl(Becky) trying to see the disappearing uncle(who is hardly ever seen, etc.), is thus related to the kid shooting the gun(Big Ed or Bobby whose 'jack rabbits palace' dreams are crushed, then shoot the blue rose version of themselves, the real dreams that are proven not to exist by the 'motherly' woman, a version of the congressmen's dilemma, the young boy after seeing the women turns into a boy with a gun, then magic beans, go to vortex etc., break 'national security', 'blue rose' dreams come back, Naido(Laura with angels) is back but crippled, dreams break the tyranny of existence, reform it, etc., and this is why Naido is such a threat to Mr. C/BOB/Billionaires who dominate factual existence tyrannically, running around to all coordinates and killing 'red room manifestations'/dreams that do not fit with their tyranny/slavery version of the world they need to 'keep the spice flowing to them', keep Laura going to 'Canada'/'the world of truck drivers', like Audrey chasing Billy, Shelly chasing Leo/Red, Norma chasing Hank/Walter.)

I found the whole scene quite funny.

Lynch/Frost are toying with us because they know we want to know who Tina is and I expect some people were expecting the girl to say "Audrey" was the mother. None of this was revealed. None of it may ever be revealed.

I find it hilarious because by now it's clear to me there's no way of guessing correctly and people have these really firm, "solid facts" of who's who 😀

I mean, did anyone guess that Diane was Janey-E's half sister?

No, of course not.

Brilliant!

If we refer to "Possession", a movie Lynch has defined the most complete work in cinema in the last 30 years, there the doppelganger of Adjani's character is good (her being mad)

I certainly think we are MEANT to think that is Billy (the "bleeding from the nose and mouth begs that presumption, though it is telling that Audrey claims to have DREAMT that).

Of course, we were MEANT to think that Maddie was Laura, and that Leo was the killer...
