I didn't really fall for the whole "It's like an 18 hour movie" thing until the past four episodes. As a huge fan of the first two series, and David's other films, I've had a love/hate relationship with this season. I hated the whole Dougie situation and some of the long, drawn out scenes, but after watching the past four episodes it really all makes sense that you just have to remember that it isn't a traditional viewing experience and that you should just enjoy the ride, like fans keep mentioning. I have no doubt that my emotions are going to be all over the place the last two parts, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Ya I agree fully. Back when Twin Peaks first aired. I had it figured like this

Smoke weed and watch Twin Peaks season 1 and feel like I was on a serious opiate

Now with season 3 I just need a nice hot black cup of coffee and it's perfect.  Because it's a complicated puzzle.  And I love it.  Maybe not the same as the first two seasons but none the less, luv it.

How ever I do believe you all are in for a huge surprise if you're taking all this new crazy chit that's happening in the show seriously.

I mean Sarah Palmer just pulled her face off and shot xray torpedos at some scumbag drunk dude and then ripped his throat out like a rabid pit bull. Does anyone but me see a problem with that lol. And the green glove bionic sledgehammer hand.

Wake up soon Coop!! Please, cuz this is turning into some x-man movie.  I just wanted to know who killed Laura Palmer

I haven't been this hooked on a series since 2005-2010 Doctor Who (Steven Moffat pretty much ruined the show for me after that). I love how this new season dwells deeper into the mythology of the Twin Peaks series, and that it's taking it's sweet time doing so. Being used to shows being predictable, it's really a delight to feel this level of confusion and still be heavily invested in what's going on + not knowing what to expect next. I'm totally in for the ride.

I have a feeling it's going to be even better when we re-watch the whole thing after it's all finished. Everything will really tie together then. Unless the ending is so insane that it make no sense at all.

I'm already trying to find a time this winter when I can devote a straight 18 hours to sitting down and watching the entire thing back to back.

Interesting enough, my wife was as big a fan as I was back when we first watched season 1 & 2.  She watched the first 2 or 3 episodes this season and has not been back.  It does worry me just how many devoted fans might have fallen to the way side as the season has gone on.  I am hoping she will come around to watching it in the future so I have someone at home to talk it over with.

I just keep telling people who are planning to watch or have watched the first or first couple parts, roll with it. It will be weird.  It will make sense for a moment.  Then it will get weird again.  Then it will get weirder and confusing and might give you a headache and even a stroke.  But it will come around and be worth it all in the end.

(I hope I'm not lying to these people)

You clearly didn't pay much attention to Season 2.

We all know the Season 2 pilot episode syndrome that sent ABC into hysterics.  Some people even blame Senior Droolcup for single-handedly derailing their beloved series.  Peaks fans from S1 waited all summer for that second season to start, and Lynch treated them to something similar to what we're watching now, and the rejection was shocking.  Neilson reported that myriads of viewers tuned out within the first 30 minutes.  It's a mystery I'll never understand--I can never tire of it.

For me the show started good, got painfully slow, but appears to be finishing strong.

It's hard to pump out 18 great (or very good) episodes in a row, so if the middle of the season is the weak point, I'm OK with it.

Personally though, for lynch to say it's an 18 part movie but then makes us wait weekly, I'm not a fan of it at all. I think I'd have enjoyed this much more if I could have viewed it the first time as a movie, like lynch proclaims it to be.

If season 3 finishes on a strong note, if your wife is a fan, she will watch it. She's letting you be the guinea pig lol.
