Grrrrrr biggest gripe of s3 was the number of tie ins to other lynch work (mainly work I havent seen).

A nod here and there makes sense, but manor things being tied to other works is frustrating to the more tp than lynch fans.

Speaking of tie-ins, I fully expect a further evolution of the arm to look like this (from Industrial Symphony No.1)

How do you know it's from previous work if you haven't seen the previous work?

Well people have noted things in this season from other lynch works all season.

I decided to pop in Mulholland drive a week or two ago (hadn't seen it in years so I forgot a lot of it) and noticed things immediately.

And, well, if you scroll up there's someone someone posted from other lynch works......

The simplest solution is to stop watching his films. Or stop reading forum posts. 😉

Understanding or noticing the nods/homages/tie ins only add to the experience once you have noticed them.  It's a bonus!  It doesn't detract from the understanding or enjoyment unless you're just mad you didn't notice it.  So far nobody catching all the little easter eggs has a better understanding of this season than someone who hasn't.

I haven't seen a lot of Lynch's work yet, and I'm stoked that after this is done I still get to watch a bunch of Lynch movies for the first time.

Maybe a reference to, but definitely not the same teeth.

I'm glad you posted this though... I was simultaneously googling images to see whose teeth could be behind Sarah's face. Someone said Laura's smile but it isn't. Not Grace Zabriskie's teeth either. Whose then?

This has frightened me since the day it was released--just the image; liked the album.  Let it be that Lynch has sent Sarah Palmer to exorcise me, finally.

Honestly, not watching his films impacts watching twin peaks, and that's my issue.

A twin peaks fan shouldnt need to watch the directors entire library to understand everything in twin peaks.

I get why lynch diehards would gobble it up, but some of us like twin peaks more than lynch.

I've felt like I'm missing stuff out by not being well versed in his other works. If not for this forum, there's a lot I feel I'd have missed.

If you've seen all his works too many times, it's hard to not see the motifs.  They're stashed everywhere.  With each new episode, I tend to agree with you...spotting them is getting mildly disappointing.

Like Bartleby, "I would prefer not to."

I don't think he's doing it in order to reward hardcore fans or alienate the casual viewer, it's not that uncommon for obsessive artists to obsess about the same types of images or representations. Look at Salvador Dali, he has dozens of recurring motifs but he likely didn't do it because he wanted people to say "Oh yeah, I've seen another painting with this little figure walking into the distance, I'm enjoying this on so many more levels than someone who has only seen this one painting!" They were images and ideas that resonated with him that he kept going back to. I imagine much the same with Lynch, ideas that take seed in his mind that he wants/needs to keep exploring.
