I'm still perplexed by who "tricked" Cooper during his exit from the lodge.  Certainly he wasn't tricked by the Arm's Dopple.  That leaves only Naido (who we understand at the moment to be "good", for lack of a better description) or "American Girl" (Ronnette).   I think it stands to reason that the latter was the one urging Cooper to go through the socket.  "You'd better hurry, my mother's coming!" So is that the moment he was "tricked"?  Was Naido warning him not to go?  It's impossible to decipher but everything Naido appeared to be attempting to communicate with Cooper seemed cautionary; signalling him to be quiet, pulling him away from the socket, and whatever she was telling him out there in space that he didn't understand.

I don't know what the force/entity was there pounding on the door, but I guess I've reasoned it in my mind that Cooper didn't belong in that Mauve world and couldn't stay there for long.  He had to be expelled somehow.

As far as the non-existant thing goes, my guess is that he was to be whisked away via the glass box into the void of space (or whatever) and then something pulled him back into the mauve zone. My guess is that something was the fireman (or Dido).

I really think that the doppelganger of the arm (in cahoots with Mr. C?, presumably) intended Dale to end up in room 15 where Naido was- it was the "wrong room" (as I have asserted elsewhere, I think the reason Naido can't be understood is tht she is operating on a different "frequency". She HELPED Dale by flipping the switch, allowing him to get to the right room, the one he could re-enter through.

To me, it is pretty clear that Mr. c tricked him- he pretty much said as much when he talked about his plan for avoiding being pulled back into the Lodge.

AC/DC makes sense- seems Mr. C made sure she was driving at 2:53, so he was only near a DC source.

How did Naido end up in our plane? I think her location is the key. The Fireman intervened.

I still have to wonder who will want to kill Naido now, and why? It seems like she may be more integral to the full story than we previously thought (or not, as usual).

Also, I'm not sure we know for sure why Briggs head said "Blue Rose".  Was he warning the real Cooper about "American Girl"?

Is Naido a victim of the atomic bomb blasts in Japan.  She looked into the fireball causing her eyes to melt?

Interesting angle.  The actress is Japanese.

The scratches on her face could be from her clawing at herself in an attempt to see, also implying that she wasn't born/created that way.

Yeah, good point.  He was way out in the desert also, presumably well away from power lines.

Also, back to the consciousness question, will Real Cooper retain the memory of Evil Cooper's deeds when he regains his mind, or will he be able to suppress it?

Hi Tom,

I have been arguing for quite a while that Cooper will have all the memories of Mr. C when he re-composes himself.

The main reason being: when BOB created Mr. C, Mr. C had all of Cooper's memories: Annie, Audrey, Diane, FBI passwords, Major Briggs, et cetera, ad infinitum.

Besides, I would think it would make one of the most powerful scenes in all of Twin Peaks history, not to mention further illustrating MacLachlan's inimitable acting skills, when Cooper realizes what his evil twin has done.  =:-O

Interesting thoughts here, Ric. Coop retaining the memories of all that Mr C has done could account for his countenance in the trailer, eh?

One small quibble, Bob didn't create Mr C, he possessed him and then ran outta the Lodge. Mr C is Coop's shadow self. I wonder now though, does Bob have a doppelgänger?

Hi  Caoimhín,

Who created Cooper's doppelganger?  It had to be either the Arm or BOB, right?  And then BOB possessed him.  >:-[

Isn't BOB the Arm's dugpa, collecting all the garmonbozia he can for it?   =:-O

😉

That sound is exactly like the sound Sam and Tracy heard before they finally looked and saw The Experiment.

Hence I think American Girl and/or Naido were helping Cooper go through the glass box at a different time than the Experiment showed up there.

Ric, "no one" created Coop's doppleganger.  Everyone has a shadow self, Hawk's people call it the Dweller on the Threshold.  Why we have a shadow self that we must confront when crossing into the spiritual world, who knows 😀

Here's the clip of Hawk explaining it to Cooper:

Could that clip (well Hawk) explain what is going on with Sarah? ... she tried to face 'the Dweller on the Threshold' and it annihilated her soul?

After seeing part 8, I wondered whether Cooper was finally admitted to the White Lodge. We saw him in the very beginning with the Fireman in what is believed to be the White Lodge, and the Fireman told Cooper that he is very far away before Cooper blinked out of sight. When we next saw the Fireman, it was a very long pan across the ocean and then up the fortress on the rock, that hearkened back to the first instance we saw of Cooper when he left the Glass Box and entered what people have referred to as the Mauve Zone. Could Naido have been a permanent White Lodge resident, along with American Girl? Remember that the Arm's doppelgänger wouldn't have necessarily considered the White Lodge as a reward, and oftentimes evil beings consider good places as boring or non-exist-ent: as in that's so boring it doesn't even exist. If this is all true about Naido in the Lodge, then the idea that she sacrificed herself to save a misplaced being rings true.

Someone else has previously said that Cooper failed when he entered the Red Room and that is why he is stuck there, that he had imperfect courage. That's not what I saw at all. Twin Peaks isn't necessarily the Cooper story, he's just a part of it. Isn't Twin Peaks more about how our world has changed so much since 1945, and further the ways in which it has changed? Cooper, then, like everything else, becomes and serves as a symbol.

Sarah's soul didn't need annihilating. She's so crippled by the devastating losses she suffered, did she really need reinforcement from the spirit world to become a soul inhabiting the dark fringes?
