after watching this episode I got the funny feeling that Charlie has been writing this entire story of twin peaks all along - the furnishings in the house could be from 1945 or a bit later

Charlie has so much to do & is behind on a deadline for his new story or book about this fictional town created after the birth of the atomic age - even though some of the out side stories would be a stretch for any writer being able to look that far into the future it might explain why he said he could end Audrey's story at any time - maybe he was the boy walking w/ the frog moth girl??

That's one hell of a stretch.  The young man in episode 8 could no way grow up to become Charlie, not without some radical surgery and possibly a change of his entire genome.

I've been thinking the Audrey story is meta and Charlie represents Mark Frost & David Lynch dealing with a revolting character.

Which would explain her public outbursts.  Somewhat.

It's a cool theory, even if it is a stretch.  Charlie is "the author."

That would make sense. Particularly if the whole scene is a bit of a play on a conversation they all had about introducing her character.

Billy could be Billy Zane, then.

"You've got no balls" - Audrey telling Frost/Lynch they've not got the balls to give her an adventurous storyline.

Tina could refer to Tina Rathborne who directed episode 3.  Apologies if anyone has previously posted this but I've just discovered it - check out her quotes on Jungian Philosophy:  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Episode_3_(Twin_Peaks)
