What story is that, Charlie?  Don't end my story, too!

I posted in another thread wondering if this is a reference to the 1976 Jodie Foster movie

I immediately thought about Grace zabriskie's scene in Inland Empire.  I have to rewatch that but she says something similar. Looks like David is creating a puzzle with all of his films involved.  There's an actor from every one of his previous films just to start with

There seemed something Charlie-esque about that "banker" fella who hung out at Renzo and Ray's secret fight club garage, too.

Me too, by co-incidence I saw the movie recently, after reading the book.  Interesting take on Audrey if it is in reference!

i though the same thing.  here are her lines from inland empire:

"A little boy went out to play. When he opened his door, he saw the world. As he passed through the doorway, he caused a reflection. Evil was born. Evil was born, and followed the boy."

also,

"An old tale, and a variation. A little girl went out to play. Lost in the marketplace, as if half-born. Then, not through the marketplace - you see that, don't you? - but through the alley behind the marketplace. This is the way to the palace. But it isn't something you remember."

And doesn't she poison the creepy, pervy neighbor in that movie too? Slipping something into his drink?

It's not hard to have actors from every Lynch movie in here when he has reused most of them multiple times. Let's cross-check:

Eraserhead: Did Catherine Coulson do any acting in that on top of assistant directing? It might've been in 1 of the famed lost/deleted scenes.

Elephant Man:?

Dune: Kyle

Blue Velvet: Dern

Wild at Heart: Dern

FWWM: Sheryl Lee

Lost Highway: "Red"

Straight story:?

Mulholland Dr.: Naomi

IE:Grace

Everett McGill from The Straight Story. Can't see anyone from The Elephant Man though.

...David Bowie played John Merrick on stage the same year the movie was released.

But this isn't really connected to David Lynch.

Coulson was in one of his early short-movies "The amputee"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0193716/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_27

And when you watch "The Short Films of David Lynch" you will see many scenes, visuals and ideas  that he used in  later work like TwinPeaks.
