I suspect it is going to be a lot more complicated than just that, but the shoes (and shoes in general) are clearly a thing, and will be. For Dale and beyond. I think about the scene of Shelly riding the hood, and her raising her leg in a very awkward and intentional way to put her shoe in the frame. The behinds the scene video makes it seem very clear that that was directed.

When the shoes were left behind, Dale was returned to the world incomplete.  If he gets Mr Cs shoes, he will be restored.
