I was really disappointed with episode 12, but this made 12 seem eventful. Another wasted hour. There was about 5 minutes worth of content. It's like eating a sausage thats 6% meat.

I'm sure the final two hours will return to standard of the first two but is it going to be like this until then? Why did they reprise the show if they actually had so little to say?

Watched it with my partner who really likes Lynch and likes Twin Peaks but is not a dedicated 'fan'. They can't understand why I keep making excuses for the show or why I'm still interested.

They can't understand [...] why I'm still interested.

Frankly neither can I.

It's like I've gone to a franchised RR Diner and the cherry pie is filled with cheap ingredients.

I've been pretty critical of the season so far and I thought last nights epiaode was an improvement, big time. Things definitely happened and the pace was much better.

I have alway thought the pace invokes feeling. This was not just the mystery and clues to get but the feelings you get. Some scenes play out slow to have you frustrated because you need to feel that way. I think it has played out in episodes and across scenes, sometimes exploring the emotional response more than the content.

I am finding with the amount of time spent on this, that parallel structure and even repetition is played with well, the payoff is delayed though.

For example the looping of the television in Sarah's house, I felt took forever and seemed to have no point, but the very last loop was not the same, something changed, but what. The tension that generated was intense, I kept looking for Bob in the mirrors or something in the shadows near the kitchen. I was frightened by this technique, without cliche horror techniques being used.

Will there be a big payoff in information, I am not sure but Lynch is playing emotions well.
I think the lack of payoff for this chunk of stuff after episode 8 is setting up for a dump of information or a setup for a bigger ?.   I am enjoying the process though including how it frustrates me as my default mindset is "answer this question" , "solve this mystery".

I REALLY love that the majority of the time a thread is started referencing how frustrated they are with the show, the OP has Diane as their profile pic. haha "fuck you david"

I think the main reason people are struggling is they went into this season expecting resolution and answer. Lynch and Frost are just making a show

I didn't really interpret that scene as being about franchising (mostly) but more so about a middle finger extended to the CBS execs in the 90's and entertainment execs overall. Sure it was also about what it was on its face but pales in comparison. Cherry pie is important 'cause Twin Peaks, yes, but have you considered . . .

Sentiments mirrored.

It's interesting to me that you'd use that analogy.  Beyond the obvious cultural criticism being expressed in that scene, I wondered if it was also a commentary on Lynch's relationship with executives.

Imagine the guy across from Norma as some generic studio exec talking to Lynch. I'm sure a more nostalgic, traditional take on TP wouldn't have been so divisive for the fan base (i.e. more consistent and profitable).  But Lynch only knows how to make his 'pies' one way, and his fans seem to like them that way, and so he doesn't really see the issue.

It's challenging to a viewer to keep getting new questions and asides we don't really care about (does anybody really care about the Norma's Double-R franchise issues or listening to James' song?) when previous questions about the primary plot and characters are still hanging out there. Frankly, I enjoyed this part much more than 12, but I understand the frustration. We're watching a show for which it takes a couple months to cover a couple days. It can be fun at times but it's far from easy or comfortable.

So far we've had 13 episodes of Twin Peaks. 13 episodes that we have never seen before. We can currently watch the episodes back to back and without the weekly delay. Soon we can watch the entire series in one go. When we rewatch the episodes in the years to come, the story will not be interrupted by the weekly breaks.

I personally don't mind a weeks delay between episodes. It is nothing compared to the 25 years we've had to wait.

I never start a thread before painting my nails, pouring myself a large vodka and lighting a cigarette. In fact, I'm sat at the bar in Max Von's typing this in on my phone.

Can't believe I didn't think of writing "FUCK YOU DAVID" before! Is that going to have to be the first thing I do in the episode 14 section?

I think the majority of fans like lynchs pie with a splash of corporate to it (season 1 is easily the best imo), season 2 took a hit from the network telling him to hurry it up, and 3 is like that company that tries too hard to "change up" something that was fine.

That might be true but what if that thing that WAS fine (then) might not be fine anymore (now)? I'm perfectly sure Blockbuster and its model were more than fine, yet because they thought it was just fine and it was pointless to change it there's no such thing as Blockbuster anymore.
