I got the idea that Charlie is the writer (of the show, or of Audrey's destiny, or something).  That's what the "end your story" line indicated to me, like that one Twilight Zone episode.  It was also telling that Audrey expressed a sense of displacement, and that the characters were in much the same position as last week - she standing, he sitting (although Audrey did get to sit down this time, so there was some movement).  And, no resolution, or connection to any other plot line.

And the similarities between Audrey's scenes and the scene between Cooper and ?????? at the beginning of part 1 keep coming.

She sat down after saying she wanted to leave. It's almost as if she was moving backwards. Hm.

I think it is an interesting parallel. I don't think Audrey CAN leave.

She said she wanted to do both ( stay & leave ).
He said you're SUPPOSED TO go to the Road House ( etc. ), not "you said you would go to the Road House..." etc.

She reminded me of Judy Garland in some film, but I can't think what it is...

Working from the point above, perhaps it's symbolic of how fans have kept the character frozen in time as that 18 year old coquette even though that's impossible 25 years later?

The character is therefore trapped, knowing it needs to leave (change and grow) but not quite that's what it wants?

Perhaps there's also commentary here related to gender and aging. For whatever reason, men are 'allowed' to age in society without judgement, while women(especially actors) can be judged more harshly after their youthful looks fade. And it's a fact that people have commented negatively on Sherilyn Fenn's looks at her age.

But she can't be who she was in 1990, no matter how safe it might feel to mentally stay in that space.

You mean sex, gender is a state of mind.  Most if not all of those comments on her looks are from young people ( mostly male ) who don't know what feels like to age, and also mature in your thoughts ( rather than getting stuck like a certain orange man in an oval room ).

"Do you want me to end your story?" To quote Mr. Dodgson,"curiouser and curiouser."

"You're supposed to go to the Road House to see if Billy is there." A: "Where is it?"

Also, did Audrey say "This isn't Ghostwood" ?

That's the only line that really made my ears perk up and I could not understand what she was saying other than the word "Ghostwood".

...did anyone else catch what she said?

She's still in her coma and lives inside a dream.

Perhaps she's struggling with leaving the coma, and that's what the whole conversation with "her husband" is about. She wants to, but her mental and physical deterioration act as an inhibitor, for lack of a better word?

I haven't gone back and rewatched it yet, but she definitely said something about "Ghostwood."  That intrigued me.

Her being under the care of a private psychiatric doctor would also explain why she hasn't been mentioned before.  What's the point of contacting her about Richard if she's off in lala land? ... Or really contacting her about much of anything other than to see if she's improved at all?

I thought Audrey more threatening than Charlie.  "What story is that Charlie? Is that the story of the little girl who lived down the lane?". I've read the book and seen the movie!  From the movie poster.....

She was only a little girl who lived in a great big house.....all alone.  Where is her mother? Where is her father? Where are all the people who went to visit her? What is her unspeakable secret? Everyone who knows is dead.

And then there's the poison in the coffee...

I want to stay and I want to go. I want to do both. Which one will it be, Charlie? Hmm? Which one would you be? Charlie, help me. It's like Ghostwood here.

The owls were silent.

Audrey cries inconsolably; shaken to the core.
