"Hawk . . . something is missing"

Cooper returned from the lodges without his shoes. He is missing something. Lynch wouldn't have bothered showing Cooper going out with his shoes popping off unless it was important.

Lynch repeatedly shows us that nothing makes Dougie know the man he is. Not coffee, not badges, not a suit, and not sex.

"you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them." - To Kill a Mockingbird

Dougie needs Cooper's shoes to know the man he is.

Not sure where to post this because it connects dots from more than one part.

The fact that you've quoted "To Kill a Mockingbird" (and the quote itself) is very interesting. In SHoTP we get to know that this is Harry Truman's favorite book. Also, reminds me the scene when DougieCoop is rubbing/caressing the statue's shoes, the one that seems to depict an officer of law.

This is where I want to give my Albert look.

I don't think it's the shoes.

Remember what Leo Johnson said while in a catatonic state? New shoes. Interesting.

He was wearing his black and whites during the scene with Sonny Jim ~ an odd outfit for playing ball, yet another reference to the old Coop... but are we really waiting for the shoes?! Interesting point.

I don't see how the shoes can't be significant in some way. They were left behind in the Lodges for a reason.

Yup.  Shoes are important.

I'd post an Albert pic if I wasn't on mobile.

I think you're all having a Hawk "is it about the bunny?" moment that Lynch and Frost would find hilarious.

Oh, I dunno. It's a fun idea and silly enough to be true.

Thumbs up to a great observation re: Cooper's shoes.

To be pedantic for a moment, you more precisely mean that DougieCoop needs the shoes, not the actual Dougie, since he was sent to The Red Room in ep.3.

I think the odds are good that our money would be safe if we bet on your prediction that we'll see Cooper finally become conscious again after he somehow gets to the shoes, or they're brought to him, and he puts them on. Love it.

I also agree and have mentioned in several threads he left his shoes behind as a possible important piece in episode three.  In the second red/purple room the bell/electric gate was originally marked 15.  After cooper leaves the room with the blind woman and returns, the gate number changed to 3.  This is the gate he enters.  I believe he needs to somehow reenter this room, get his shoes, and enter gate 315 which is referenced in several areas and is also the same number as the great northern hotel room.
