That's funny, but you're right - she drinks to stifle the "sight". Good observation.
Grace Zabriskie as Sarah certainly provided some creepy moments in this episode. Whether or not Bob is involved, and is the "Something" in the kitchen, we did have several shots of the fan which we associate him with, starting when Hawk first walked up to the door. Seeing the fan made me flash on the extended scene from "The Missing Pieces" with Bob talking to Laura through the fan.
