I'm sorry, I just can't see this, not even with David Lynch.

Can you imagine the revelatory scene?

Gordon Cole: "It's been staring us in the face the entire time, Albert. BOB... the evil spirit. Diane's bob cut hairstyle. Diane is BOB the evil spirit because she has a bob cut."

Cue Albert's blank stare.

It's almost worst than the turnip / turn up joke.

To clarify: her hairstyle is traditionally called a "bob cut". i'm not suggesting her and bob have the same hairstyle. ha!

Also, I can't say whether or not she is possessed by Bob, but I think this revelation helps to answer the lingering question of what team she is playing for, so to speak.

Ouch! I didn't get the nuance since english is not my mother language. In Portugal we give it a name which would translate to something like "coconut hairstyle". Anyway...I'll get my coat!?

I understood the nuance, and I still think it's a tenuous (at best) attempt at a connection.

Diane's hair is called a bob cut (which I was aware of). To then try and tie that to BOB the evil spirit seems.... well, it stretches credulity.

It seems less like a revelation, and more like a stretch.

BOB/bob cut.... eh.

Again, it's about on par with the turnip / turn up joke.

Then again, all details seem to be considered, especially since someone pointed out that even the cars people drive in (Lincoln, Saturn) have significance...

Nah, if the haircut is meaningful, I doubt they would say it in the script. Instead, it would be something just staring us, the audience, in the face the whole time--not a clue used by Cole/Albert.* I most definitely think it is something Lynch would use intentionally. He's got his hands on every little sound design, makeup, costume, and set design decision, and we see so many patterns and coincidences particularly in this season. It is currently straining my credulity to think the white bob haircut is not either related to BOB or at least a red herring for us. That's my take at the moment.

Then again, the fact that I'm thinking "no, they wouldn't actually say it; it's too silly" probably increases the probability that they will say it. Pardon me, I meant, "proBOBility."

There is such attention to detail in this show that it has to be intentional. If Diane is wearing a bob cut hairstyle then it's because Lynch/Frost called for her to wear a bob cut hairstyle. I don't think any of us are claiming to know what it means or whether it is of super-importance or just a little play on words. Perhaps it IS just as silly as the turnip/turn-up joke, but remember that Lynch wrote that (and delivered it), too. He's not above silly word-play.

That hairstyle isn't really a bob.  More like a dutchboy.

I imagined Diane being fatter with dark hair, and with a jolly personality. Kind of like Miriam who got beaten up by Richard.

I imagined Diane looking very much like Columbo's wife.

Dutch boy??  Unfortunately 1 particular folk tale springs to mind - but I'm not going to lower the tone of the forum (again!)
