This is driving me insane. When Cole says this to Albert, I feel like it was a quote from one of the first two seasons or FWWM, possibly said to Laura. Probably my pregnancy brain, but after the "Let's rock" comment, I was wondering if Lynch tossed some other throwbacks in there.

Or maybe I'm just high.

Was probably just me but seemed a little filmed personal moment between the two considering how sick Miguel Ferrer must have been at the time.

Albert going blank: I wonder if this is set-up for later on, if like Miguel Albert dies in the story.

Albert points out that he's the only one on the blue rose project who hasn't gone missing - yet...

Albert is 'singing in the rain' again, angry-jealous, like the last time Cole was having bordeaux during his call to Albert who was about to meet Diane in Philadelphia.  Albert seems to be questioning Cole's judgment here, like he does of 'small towns'; the judgment related to 'turnip-turn-up' joke in bad taste(making fun of missing girl, enjoying the 'raid' coming that Sarah Palmer was worried about), no longer talking about the case, pushing off the work onto Albert for quick women, etc....  Last  time that happened Albert yelled at Cole and fixed his hearing.  Also notice Cole's teeth here, like the two prostitutes at the bang bang bar.... Cole is more in line with the golden shovel here, rather than the purple song at the end of the episode.

Also, unlike the women and 'house arrest' guy at the bar, Cole was able to be happy here because at the very beginning he used his 'blue light' to scan around, looking for the problems/sadness, the same light he used to tell Tammy 'she was wearing a bug' and send her away into the restaurant.

Part of me reckons this is some form of David Lynch saying goodbye to Miguel Ferrer. But part of me also reckons that it will be important, because Albert said he was the only one on the Blue Rose that hadn't disappeared. I love Albert, but I think he might be going soon...

Totally agre. I would add that it's been pretty clear throughout this season that Albert himself is worried. When blue rose first got mentioned, after they met the doppelganger, Cole asked Albert if he was sick and he certainly didn't look good. But the thing is, maybe he was just realizing that they were involved again in a blue rose case and he was the only one left in the team so who knows what might happen to him.

You're pregnant AND high? Yikes. ;D

I took this as a joke at Albert's character, nothing more. I don't remember any line of the sort.

I'm pretty sure it was all a long, drawn out gag with the exception of Albert reading the text and the two of them thinking.  The rest of that scene had me laughing.

Actually would like to change this somewhat, Albert was not angry-jealous here, but he was the first time in Philadelphia.  This time he has 'figured it out' and is just confronting Cole again like he did when he yelled at him in the office.  The idea that he 'is on his way out' is correct, since he is now out of those relation which were so prevalent throughout the episode.  Contrast his scene with the lady from the morgue to Coles scene with the 'quick woman', Albert is criticizing Cole here.  Cole jumps all to quickly from eliminating the blue/sadness with this light that detects 'bugs'(like Mr. C's phone app that eliminates tracking devices), so that Cole's authority, his position and proximity to the top of power is making him act somewhat like a criminal, like Mr. C, he is getting the rules of criminal, etc., and Albert is bringing him back into line 'tru-man', etc.  Albert was singing in the rain, and through Diane figured out the misery of what Cole is doing, well misery for someone who expects higher standards(for example a government that follows duty rather than criminal mafia using it for perks, example Cole makes fun of killing people/raiding people in the line of duty to both Shelly and this woman here).....Cole is in the wrong here, moving to golden shovel and away from the song at the end of the episode, which would ultimately corrupt him if he did not 'always have Albert at this side', who is the skeptical one who does not like small towns, is mean about violating standards, tries to 'raise the bar', etc., Cole has him there to keep him in check, Cole seems capable of being immersed in the situation and being led astray because he is the one that goes into the 'void/vortex' etc., which makes his hand shake.....Cole's investigations on the 'blue rose' tend to make him 'disappear', get immersed into the pain and slop(like what happened to Laura and Agent Cooper), he needs Albert there to pull him back into law/reality...

When we saw Albert enjoying a pleasant dinner with the coroner I felt like he was gonna be gone soon. In The Wire, whenever any character dies, they always show them being uncommonly happy just beforehand, every single time.

If I'm remembering correctly, Cole says this to Albert immediately after Albert blinks his eyes in what appeared to be a code. Cole was responding to the blinks message. I believe that everything in that scene including Gordon's date (and his ogling of her figure) was a complex code (think Lil from FWWM) that only they understood to prevent the suspicious Dianne (or perhaps lodge members letting through an electrical outlet, etc.) from spying on them.
